8:00 PM
If you're coming to the Christmas party, feel free to bring music. My collection is a little slim, but I have my itnernet radio if all else fails.
If you don;t know about the Christmas party, you were either too far away geographically to bother sending an invite to, I don't have your e-mail, I somehow forgot, or I hate you. Feel free to guess which one you all fall in to :-)
11:00 PM Well we know which band knows the Superdome better.
7:06 PM
I know that a lot of people won't have tickets to the Sugar Bowl, but if you want to be at the biggest party in the history of New Orleans outside of Mardi Gras, the Halfass Tailgatin' Tigers (the guys we used to tailgate near at CEBA) will be out in full force for the Sugar Bowl. They've even reserved an entire parking lot on Canal and will have live zydeco music in the afternoon and their DJ later in the day. MY OH MY! (Admission, food, double dutching and beer are free, but they will pass a hat around for donations)
11:29 PM
Saturday, May 8, 2004 3 PM
Roussel Hall
Loyola University
6363 St. Charles Avenue
New Orleans, LA
You might want to put this day down in your calendar.
Why?
It is the 10th Annual Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra May concert.
If you figure out the math, you'd probably guess that the first annual concert would have been my Freshman year of highschool. You'd be right.
My mom got a call tonight that might confirm what we've heard rumblings of for a while.
They want to bring back the alumni (not sure if its all or just the founders yet) to perform in this concert with the current orchestra.
When I go home tomorrow I'll be getting the number of one of the founding board members to get the skinny on the details. Hopefully I'll be able to get some sheet music very soon because I'm really going to need the practice considering my last real time playing the viola was at the May concert my senior year of highschool!

2:24 PM Congratulations!! You're a tall glass of nice cold beer!
12:02 AM
There, I put up some holiday music. After a few days of hearin Tiger Rag loop over and over I remembered why I'm not a Clemson fan.
Anyway, a little about this song, it is a part of Vivaldi's Gloria in D. More important to me, my high school's orchestra performed it at one of our Christmas concerts with the school choir, the only time I've perfromed with a choir behind me while I played, so it was an interesting concert.
A little sentimental with my five year class reunion coming up this Christmas? Maybe so.

12:38 PM
You know you have a hot ticket when you're getting requests from Afghanistan for it.
4:02 PM
LSU is going to play for the national championship in the Sugar Bowl.
LSU is going to play for the national championship in the Sugar Bowl.
The team has already had a team meeting and been told this. Similarly, the USC boards are reporting that their team has had a team meeting to announce a Rose Bowl bearth.
Still hasn't sunk in. I paid $800 dollars earlier for two upper level tickets with a pre-game party in the Hyatt. They were the best deal on the net, everyone else wanted $600+ for tickets in similar locations. The site I bought from is also going up to $600 tomorrow. You might think I'm insane, but I can afford it and this is the only way for me to get in. I'm not a season ticket owner this year and I can't join the TAF Collegiate Club to get tickets. That being said, first of my friends/family (my mom has said maybe depending on where they are, but I think it will be way too high for her) to pony up the $400 gets my second ticket. You might think its alot, but two tickets in the endzone lower level are about to close on eBay for over $1250 in about 2 hours. If you want to go to the game, you'll find that $400 is far below market value for this ticket.
At some point, I will sell it on the open market, so someone get to me soon wanting this ticket!
(PS I've decided the most appropirate colors for this part of the season are the traditional Catholic colors of Advent - purple and gold!)
12:06 PM
Hey everyone, I talked to Kevin and he wanted me to pass on that he's started up a new blog, Life at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, so we can keep up to date with how he's doing on there.
11:02 PM
Just wantd to put up a pre-emptive notification that after the SEC Championship game, win or lose, this site will be going into Christmas colors and music. This is so that no one can say I removed the colors and music just because LSU lost a game. The purple & gold will be back in time for LSU's bowl game.
As for that bowl game, it looks like LSU will be in the Sugar only if USC loses to Oregon State and LSU wins the SECCG, Fiesta if both LSU and USC win next week and the Citrus if LSU loses. After today's games, it looks like LSU didn't get the help it needed for the BCS to work out without USC losing. This included games from the horribly officiated Gator/Criminole game and Hawaii skulldragging Bama all the way down to UAB losing to Houston (no I have no idea why that mattered, all I know is that it did). Any of the three bowls I listed is a whole lot better than hoping and praying for a Poulon Weedeater Independence Bowl berth like a few years back, so I'll be happy with any of them.
One last note, if you ever want to listen to something different, I suggest you go to VH1 Radio and click on the Cover to Cover station. It has some interesting stuff on it. I mention this because I'm listening to it right now. It also has I Love the 70s and I Love the 80s stations to listen to.
My mom was getting coupons out of the paper today, and we saw a whole bunch of 25% off everything coupons and thought we had some steals to hit today. Then I showed her on the top of the ad "Good on Thursday Only".
Now, I can understand a grocery store staying open from like 8-1 for last minute buys and Wal-Mart staying open all day because lord knows Sam Walton needs MORE MONEY, but now department stores and malls are going to be open on Thanksgiving Day. Am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous. First off, who's going to go out shopping all day on Thanksgiving? And secondly, what kind of boss will make their employees work on Thanksgiving day just to sell a few more shirts? Is anyone out there actually considering hitting sales like this? Am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous? Is there anyone left not pissed off at me that will actually respond?
Now onto something that's been getting at me for the last few days that really needs to be addressed and thats how my passion for LSU really pisses people off. I know I say things about it kind of extreme sometimes (explaing why Ole Miss sucks for 6 hours straight or saying Smoke Laval should be fired for being swept AT HOME by Kansas or that weddings should be scheduled around LSU football, etc) and I am sorry that I am that way. I need to improve that. But I also want to explain why LSU holds such a big part of my heart and passion. The last few days I've thought about why and the base reason I came up with is that I am truly thankful for having attended LSU and the positive impact that my five years at LSU has had on my life. When I think of things to be thankful for on Thanksgiving, I will come up with family, friends and my job. Of those three, two of them I don't think I'd have (at least in the great form I have today) without having gone to LSU.
One of the big things that everyone needs to know is that of the people that I now consider good friends now/through my college career, all of them I have because I went to LSU. That includes everyone I know from Circle Ks at other schools. I would say only 2 or 3 people I now consider friends I knew before I went to college. If I had done what my parents originally wanted me to do, I would have been a commuter student at UNO and I probably would never have gotten involved in Circle K or much of anything else. I wouldn't know any of you. In fact, I attribute most of the experiences that Circle K brought to me (first flight, first trip north of the Mason-Dixon line, etc.) to me having gone to LSU because those are experiences I never would have had if I had not gone to LSU.
I also have the great job I had for 5 years and the great job I have now to thank LSU for. Had I gone to UNO, I would have kept my job at the convience store and now probably would be easily mistaken for Dante (that's a Clerks reference) and still be living at home. Instead I spent five years talking to contacts in Baton Rouge real estate that I now use on a daily basis. When I went to a Commercial Investment Division Board of Realtors meeting, everyone already knew who I was though I had never met them. Most phone calls I get at the appraisal job now start with "Hey, didn't you work at LSU?" If that's not starting out with your foot in the door, I don't know what is. Also, LSU professors got me my current job and don't think I'll be forgetting that.
LSU isn't just sports to me. Its almost everything I have outside of my family. Almost everything I have, I can attribute in some way to going to LSU. LSU has had a profound impact on my life. I'm sorry if I've let my passion and loyalty get taken too far at times. The university is responsible for a large part of my life, probably a larger part than most student/alumni lives at LSU and other universities. I cannot remove my passion for my Alma Mater, but I will try to better control my passion and represent LSU in the future. Once again, I'm sorry to anyone that I've upset, I've never meant to.

There, its updated. Changed the background and there are new blogs on left and other little things around here.

Who has the better Fight Song performance?
Colorado State, LSU or Purdue.
I think we all know the answer.
Geaux vote for the Golden Band from Tigerland RIGHT NOW.
12:57 AM
Well, it only took a month for someone to wonder if I'm OK, so I'll update to prove I still know how to type.
Honestly, I'm tired and don't feel as enthused about this as I once was. Maybe its because the things on my mind I don't want to post for the world to see. No, I'm not suicidal/on drugs/thinking about batting for the other team, etc. Just the stuff that's been on my mind doesn't need to be out there for the world to see.
I'd love to update the coding on the site with new blogs and fix the countdown, but I haven't had the time or energy to do it.
I'd like to thank Ashley for being the first one to wonder if everything was OK.

So I've been seeing these commercials all the time for a site called eHarmony.com. I was bored tonight and decided to spend an hour or so filling out their personality profile. This is what it spit out for me:
eHarmony is based upon a complex matching system developed through extensive testing of married individuals. One of the requirements for it to work successfully is for participants to fall into our rigorously defined profiles. If we aren't able to match a user well using these profiles, the most considerate approach is to inform them early in the process.
We are so convinced of the importance of creating compatible matches to help people establish and enjoy happy, lasting relationships that we choose not to provide service rather than risk an uncertain match.
Unfortunately, we are not able to make our profiles work for you. Our matching system is not suitable for about 20% of potential users, so 1 in 5 people simply would not benefit from our service. We hope that you understand that we regret our inability to provide service for you at this time.
Yep, I'm unmatchable.

12:26 AM
OK time for my ballot for Saturday. I'll comment where necessary
Governor
"Bobby" Jindal, Republican, Ballot # 10
Lieutenant Governor
Kirt Bennett, Republican, Ballot # 20
Former LSU SG President and has been very active in youth programs in Baton Rouge. Was the Keynote speaker at the Div 8A/8B Key Club Rally last year. He's a Rotarian, but don't hold that against him.
Secretary of State
W. Fox McKeithen, Incumbent, Republican, Ballot # 29
Someone that's been around forever and not gone to jail. That's good enough to get my vote.
Attorney General
Suzanne Haik Terrell, Republican, Ballot # 31
OK I am torn here. Foti's a cop, not an attorney general. Terrell I've never really liked since she came to speak at Country Day. But her family did go there and she is a Republican. Guess I'll stick with the party and the Alma Mater and vote Terrell
Commissioner, Agriculture and Forestry
"Bob" Odom, Incumbent, Democrat, Ballot # 33
That's right, a Democrat on my ballot. Odom's done a pretty good job.
Commissioner, Insurance
"Dan" Kyle, Republican, Ballot # 38
I was torn between Kyle and Wooley. I'm voting for Kyle in part out of sympathy for the failed governor run and in part out of knowing he was an internal auditor for so long. Hopefully he'll use that background on the insurance companies.
BESE, 6th District
Polly Broussard, Republican, Ballot # 52
I honestly had no idea on this one, but I've heard Broussard's name before and she actually has a billboard up. I guess that's something.
State Senator, 16th Senatorial District
1 to be elected
Jay Dardenne, Incumbent, Republican, Ballot # 54
Chris Warner, Republican, Ballot # 55
OK, for you non-LSU people, Warner is a massive tool. He writes books on SEC history and has a doctoral degree in "urban planning" from UNO. Not a knock on UNO, but he sticks his head in on lots of development discussions around here and throws around his Ph.D. with a little too much pride. He got himself kicked off LSU's Arts and Sciences Advisory Council for being an ass to the Dean. He's spent the last few months in his patented khaki shorts and white polo holding up placcards on major corners in town. Sad thing is, that's the only sign I've see for him. I'm voting for Dardenne, who should win with about 80% of the vote.
Sheriff
"Mike" Burns, Republican, Ballot # 69
Elmer Litchfield, Incumbent, Republican, Ballot # 70
I think I might vote for Burns after all the fun we had with that serial killer. Way to go BRPD! Still looking for that white male the profile said it was. I think he's hiding with the real OJ murderer.
Assessor
Valery "Val" Lowery, Democrat, Ballot # 71
Brian Wilson, Incumbent, Republican, Ballot # 72
After a few months on the appraisal job, I've learned one thing. The Baton Rouge Assessor's Office is incompetant. Val Lowery is an appraiser and wants to get some fair assessments on residential properties so that we have more funding for schools, police, fire, etc. Wilson's solution since his election last November, doubling the number of field appraisers from 4 to 8. That's for assessing all of the property in Baton Rouge. We have 8 appraisers in our office. Here's a tip, the city probably needs at least 20 field appraisers. Read some of the fun involved here.
Coroner
Shannon Cooper, Republican, Ballot # 73
James S. Osterberger, Jr., Democrat, Ballot # 74
Jerry Sanders, Democrat, Ballot # 75
Alfredo Suarez, Republican, Ballot # 76
I'll vote for a Republican, I guess. Will someone please tell me the reason one is even elected? I mean what policy does a coroner make?

Now i've heard and made some definite conversation killers in my day, but nothing like I heard tonight. This comes courtesy of one Courtney Robicheaux of LSU Circle K:
"I'd rather be a prostitute than a crack dealer so I could clean my crack and sell it again"
Everyone was out of Jason's Deli about a minute after that!
In other news, I'm now loaded down in work well past my birthday and might not be able to go to Tioga.
I never got to post it, but my prediction going in was 17-14 LSU. I was close!
Also, I took a whole bunch of pictures this weekend of Gameday, the Best Damn Sports Show Period, and inside the stadium. Check them out here.

1:22 AM
OK back to normal. I just felt like doing something for Sept 11, so just changed things up here a little. However, it got close to LSU gameday, and so having Ole Miss colors up here was not an option.
Don't have time to do my full write up on football this week, so I'll just sum up last week like this.
Ole Miss: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Auburn: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Arizona: At least pretend like you'll put up a fight.
OK onto this weeks games:
Arkansas @ Texas: The old SWC rivalry. Texass should win this one. Roy Williams should have no problem with Arkansas' secondary.
Auburn @ Vanderbilt: The big question in this game is not what everyone thought it would be (how badly will AU destroy Vandy) but instead is Will Auburn score a touchdown? I'll say they finally score a TD, but they lose a close game to Vandy. Hell, Auburn is the SEC representative in ESPN.com's Bottom Ten. That's been reserved for Vandy and Kentucky for YEARS.
South Carolina @ Georgia: UGA should win this one setting up LSU vs. UGA as two top ten teams (and the game of the week) next week.
Florida A&M @ Florida: In wrestling, I'd say "Job Squad: Pin Me, Pay Me"
UL-Monroe @ Ole Miss: Ole Miss will win but it will be a lot closer than anyone in Oxford is comfortable with.
Kentucky @ Alabama: If it weren't for Kentucky's head coach thinking that Jared Lorenzen should be running the option and lining up at WR, I'd say Kentucky could shock Alabama with an upset. Unfortunately, the guy's a moron so the Tide should win this one.
Western Illinois @ LSU: Not as bad as it sounds. Western Illinois is the #1 team in 1-AA. On the other hand, McNeese State was #1 last week until Kansas State beat them 55-14 or soemthing. LSU should win this one, but I don't think its going to be as easy as Arizona was.
Mississippi State @ Tulane: Tulane has more SEC Championships than State and they haven't been in the conference in 30 years. CUSA should continue its arguement for inclusion in the BCS (and I'm starting to think they should replace the Big East) with this game.
Tennessee has the week off. With Fulmer not having to coach and a certain Kiwanian tailgating, Krispy Kreme should see a big spike in sales tomorrow!
Other games of interest:
Notre Dame @ Michigan: Nothing would make me happier than to hear that ND loses this game, well except for Auburn losing to Vandy maybe. I'm thinking Michigan wins this one.
NC State @ Ohio State: I'm looking for NC State to get the upset win here, OSU has not looked impressive this year, and they're going to look even less impressive when the NCAA hammer comes falling on them.
Memphis @ Southern Miss: If Memphis wins, they have a shot at winning the Mississippi State Championship this year (they play MSU later in the season). If USM wins, they get to rag Ole Miss fans on it. I hope USM wins just for that reason, but I think its going to be Memphis that wins it.
Sean's Bitchslap Game of the Week:
I had trouble finding one for this week, its a tough choice. Most of the teams I don't like have already been humiliated at least once this year. I'll go with Auburn @ Vandy just for the look on Tubby's face if they manage to lose this one. He'll make Macovick look like Einstein with the brook trout look he'll have.
Over on Tigerroar's Tiger Alley (political/non LSU) message board, we've starting posting where we were on Sept 11. I thought I'd post mine here (plus added some more stuff not on the Alley).
I woke up and missread the clock thinking I had overslept. I rushed, got dressed jumped in the car to get to ECON class late. If I turned on the TV, I probably had it on Comedy Central or Cartoon Network, not the news. It turns out it was about 8:40 when I was driving to campus (I actually had a 9:30 class) and I heard on the radio (X104 probably) around LSU Avenue and Highland, "We'll have an update on the situation in New York City soon". I figured it was nothing and was out of the car before the update came. I sat through class, realized it wasn't my class but the section before, felt like a moron. Then when Dr. C started my section he said "I know its a tough morning with everything in New York and Washington, but lets try to get through this little bit of material". I had no idea yet what he was talking about, someone in class told me there was a bombing at the Pentagon and at the World Trade Center. When I got out of class (9:30 or so), I ran to my office (class and office were in CEBA) and got on CNN.com where I saw it all. Then I saw pictures of the WTC coming down. We had no TV in the office, so I just kept hitting reload on CNN, Drudge, and the Alley from 10:00 till 3:00. When my 3:00 class was cancelled I finally went home and saw the video of everything for the first time.
While this was going on, my dad was in the hospital and had just gotten out of ICU a few days earlier. They got him out of bed, and he walked a little. Then he sat up in a rocking chair for a while when this came on the TV. That was the last time he ever got out of the hospital bed.
Later in the week when the SEC said we'll play, then decided not to, we decided to say "Fuck Osama" and we went and tailgated at Highland Road Park that Saturday. Someone heard from their parents that the news had said that payback would begin that night. I invited people over to watch the news as the bombs dropped, but they never did. Much drinking ensued. I won't say what happened due to that, but some people have since sworn off of Tequila.
Eli throws 2 interceptions in the forth quarter to give Memphis its first win over an SEC team since 1996 when they beat Peyton Manning and Tennessee Offensive Coordinater David Cutcliffe. Bama got beat by Oklahoma (though not the ass whooping I thought it would be). It took about 100 minutes of football for Auburn to score its first points of the year. They're out of the Top 25 faster than Ole Miss in November!
Plus there were two big blowouts that made me very happy.
LSU 59 Arizona 13. This game was total dominance. Zona's first score should not have counted (it was a fumble recovery TD but the RB was down by contact when the ball popped out) and the second score was against our 3rd string defense (one of our running backs was playing safety). LSU totally dominated Zona, the first string defense gave up no points. LSU's fans dominated Zona's fans and over at the apartment we were literally LAUGHING at some of the LSU touchdowns towards the end of the first half because of the way Zona was already just giving up. UL Monroe played with more heart than these guys.
Country Day 42 Ben Franklin 0. This I couldn't believe, I just read it on WWL.com. We have a new coach this year and it looks like he might have decided to open up the play book (we had two TDs through the air last week in the Jamboree). If CD keeps playing like this, I might have to go back to Old Metairie to see some games this year.

10:33 PM
Hey, I'm doing another Football preview post! Its weekly!
First off, we'll be watching the LSU game at my apartment. It's at 9 PM Saturday, feel free to come early if you want to watch the OU/Bama game. BYOB and snacks.
Last week, was interesting in the SEC. Bama managed to find itself after being down 17-0 to South Florida. South Carolina embarrassed the conference in its pitiful 14-7 win over the USL Lafayette @ the corner of Johnson and University Streets Cajuns. USC smacked around Auburn and held the most talented RB corps in the nation (my ass) to somewhere around 75 yeards. Georgia proved me and a bunch of others wrong when the Dawgs skulldrug Clemson through wanna-be-Death Valley. Ole Miss had to use almost every trick in their playbook to narrowly escape Vandy with a win. After the worst rain I've seen since the May 8 floods in New Orleans, LSU beat Louisiana (they beat their satelite school in Lafayette last year to earn the name!) 49-7.
In in-state news, Miami kicked the crap out of LaTech and SLU won their first game in 18 years at Strawberry Stadium in what turned out to be a pretty good game. Last night they beat Lambuth to improve their record to 2-0. Pretty good start for the Lions. Depending on work and LSU's schedule I might try to go out to see the SLU/McNeese game later this year. Tulane put a 1 in the Moral Victory column.
Onto this week's games:
#1 Oklahoma @ Alabama: A lot of times in games that should be blowouts, the question is how long until the backup QB gets in the game. With Stoops coaching the Sooners, the better question might be how long until the second-string defense is in.
Arkansas vs. Tulsa: I misread and thought this was last week. I'm just keeping what I said then: Arkansas should win this, even with a few first-game jitters.
#17 Auburn @ Georgia Tech: If Auburn can't bounce back for "the South's Oldest Rivalry", they're out of the Top 25 faster than LSU in 1998 or Bama in 2000. Hard to tell what they'll do after last week, but I think Big Ears will have his team ready to win this one.
#21 Florida @ #3 Miami: Part of me really doesn't like Florida. Part of me really doesn't like Brock Berlin. I'll pull for the SEC and hope Florida leaves him as a stain on the grass, but I doubt it'll happen. FireRonZook.com's hitcound should be big tomorrow night.
#8 Georgia vs. Middle Tennessee: I'm guessing this is the school formerly known as MTSU. Georgia should destroy them.
Kentucky vs. Murray State: Kentucky faces an in-state rival they can handle (maybe). I want to say Kentucky should win big, but when the head coach is putting Jarred "Beefcake" Lorenzen at Wide Reciever, something's got to be wrong with him. Murray State plays UK closer than they should, but I think UK gets out of here with a win.
#13 LSU @ Arizona: Arizona tailgating rules: No tailgating more than 5 hours before the game starts. All vehicles must be off campus within 1 hour of the end of the game. NO HARD LIQUOR. What is this, Oxford, MS??? Arizona didn't have enough linemen to play full scrimages during fall camp. LSU won;t be spending most of the game practicing the spread like they did last week. LSU will win.
Ole Miss @ Memphis: Sadly, Memphis is a step up from Vandy, but I think Ole Miss will win another nailbiter.
Mississippi State vs. Open: Its MSU and Jackie Sheril is their coach. Open by a fieldgoal.
South Carolina vs. Virginia: Lou Holtz said this week his team sucks and they shouldn't bother to even play this game. My Holtz to English dictionary says that means Cocks by 10.
#12 Tennessee vs. Marshall: Marshall didn't back out of this game too? (they cancelled coming to LSU this summer, so we get Western Illinois next week). Vols will win.
Vandy vs. Tennessee Chatanooga: This might be Vandy's one shot at a home win this year. I think they get it.
Now onto other games of interest: -
La Tech @ USL Lafayette: LaTech wins and USL Lafayette falls to third in the football pecking order of the UL System.
Northwestern State vs. Tulane @ Tad Gormley Stadium: Tulane should win, if their game with TCU is any indication. The big question is if this game will outdraw the Carver/St Aug game tonight.
Navy @ #25 TCU: On Monday, TCU faced a pretty open Tulane offense. Tomorrow, they face Navy's wishbone. That's a pretty big change on defense in 4 days, will be interesting to see how they handle it.
Sean's bitchslap game of the week:
#1 Oklahoma @ Alabama: This one won't be pretty folks. BOOMER SOONER!
12:55 AM
I just got an IM from Kevin S., believe it or not. He's not back, but was able to get online somewhere in Afghanistan. I only got to chat with him for about 5 minutes, but I gather that things have apparantly gone well over there and he's liking it so far.
Anyway, just really wanted to post this ASAP to tell everyone to keep him in your thoughts this weekend as he's apparantly going to be in a convoy to Kabul.

11:30 AM
Hey Matt S. just posted this gem of a post on the Tiger's Lair and I had to share it on this Eve of College football.
Finally!! College football is back! We can once again enjoy tailgating and the Sudler Trophy winning Golden Band from Tigerland. Saturday night in Death Valley. Chanting new phrases like "It's rollin', baby, it's rollin'" and classics like "War Chicken" and "Go to HELL Ole Miss, go to HELL"...
Wait--"Go to Hell Ole Miss". I just got to thinking: What am I really saying when I yell that? I wanted to find out, but there's a little rule against a living person being allowed to see Heaven or Hell. Then I remembered there's a precedent for making an exception. Several centuries ago, Dante Aligheri was permitted to tour the great beyond at the request of a girlfriend who was concerned about the fate of his soul. As a result, I was permitted to take a similar tour.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL’S INFERNO:
THE DIVINE COMEDY
Purgatory (10-12 West Junction)
The 10-12 Junction is a huge, nightmarish traffic jam. But don’t worry—this torment, awful as it is, is temporary. Soon those trapped in the morass of construction will enter Paradise, where the sun will set over a grand banquet of the finest foods and libations. After darkness falls, all of their enemies will be vanquished.
1. Nashville (Freeloaders)
Located along the edge of Hell, a place of sorrow without torment. Although they can enjoy decent food and weather and good music, those in Nashville are doomed to suffer constant defeat.
2. Starkvegas(Loud Obnoxious Cousin-Dating Yahoos)
Those trapped in Starkvegas are damned to wallow in darkness, filth, and mud, due to the absence of the three virtues of civilization (electricity, plumbing, and paved roads). They must constantly run from the ruling beast, a clown with a surgical knife. The upside is that because they endured a lifetime of losing on Earth, they are able to ring their cowbells.
3. Knoxville (Hypocrites and Gluttons)
Those who ratted on and condemned others for cheating--when they were cheaters themselves--are sentenced to spend eternity in a nauseating sea of road crew orange. Rocky Top is played incessantly, which residents would enjoy except it’s off-key. Krispy Kremes appear to float through the air in abundance, but they are simply cruel mirages. Knoxville shakes violently at all times, a new hellquake occurring each time ruling beast Phat Phil jumps at another Krispy Kreme illusion.
4. Athens (Mercenaries and Exploiters)
Those who betray the spirit of sports for money, as well as those who allow illiterate felons to masquerade as students, are doomed to spend eternity in Athens, where they choke often and suffer from a warped sense of time.
5. Gainesville and the River Pryx (Bandwagoners, Revisionists, Arrogant Jackasses)
A sharp drop-off leads into Gainesville. Those who insist that college football was invented in 1990, as well as those whose loyalties last only as long as winning, and those who have grossly inflated opinions of themselves or run up the score, are cast into the river. They are in over their heads and sinking slowly to the bottom. The few with their heads above water are repeatedly struck by flying visors.
6. Fayetteville (Felons)
The violent and the drug dealers are doomed to Fayetteville, a glorified prison facility. The smell of pig manure is overwhelming, and the damned are eternally tormented by the shrill, shrieking, delusional cries of underlord Crazy Nolan.
7. Oxford (Narcissists, Unreconstructed Confederates, Pretty Boys)
Those banished to Oxford are forced to endure a never-ending cycle of false hope followed by crushing disappointment. This level of Hell repeatedly appears to rise toward Paradise, only to melt down and crash back to its usual spot near the bottom of the pit when its latest savior is exposed as an overrated pretender.
8. Tuscaloser (Cheaters, Idolators, Philanderers)
The desolate abyss is just “down the road” from this concentric circle, which is trapped in absolute darkness by the shadow of a strange, mythical figure known as “THE BEAR”. The damned are tormented by the sound of the NCAA hammer falling, again and again and again and again…
9. The Plains (Traitors, Slanderers, Classless Thugs)
The home of the devil himself, a smarmy weasel with two faces, one smirking and one howling in outrage, His giant ears flap constantly, whipping up a tornado from which none can escape. The wind stirs up debris such as urine, whiskey bottles, footballs, and tubas, which pelt the damned with stinging force. The damned can hear nothing over the wind and cannot keep their eyes open due to its force. Thus, they fall into hallucination, and envision themselves being chewed and stomped by tigers.

4:42 AM
OK time for my first (of hopefully weekly) Saturday/Sunday college football updates. Didn't get to see much of the two games today. K-State beat Cal and when I left San Jose State was beating Grambling only 10-0 at the half (I'm guessing SJSU won).
Anyway, not much to review, so onto games this week. First the SEC:
Alabama vs. USF: Poor, poor Bama. They've only had the summer practices to learn a whole new system and they start out with one of the up and coming teams in recent years. Bama may walk away with a victory, but it wouldn't suprise me to see USF beat Bama in Tuscaloosa. If a loss to USF is tough for Bama fans, they might want to stay home the week after when Oklahoma comes to town. That's not going to be pretty!
Arkansas vs. Tulsa: Arkansas should win this, even with a few first-game jitters.
Southern California @ Auburn: Auburn is over-rated, but I think they will win this one in a close game.
Florida vs. San Jose State: SJSU struggled against Grambling (in the first half at least). This was a nominee for Sean's Bitchslap Game of the Week.
UGA @ Clemson: Georgia's got problems. Injuries and academic inelligibilities are piling up. Besides having that against them, they'll be listening to the Clemson band playing Tiger Rag over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again until they start trying to jam things into their ears. Clemson wins this one.
Kentucky vs. Louisville: PIE! I don't think there will be anything to prematurely celebrate here. Louisville beats Kentucky and gets some momentum in its move to a new conference.
UL-Monroe @ LSU: Another candidate for Sean's Bitchslap Game of the Week. This is probably the biggest pushover game in the SEC Week 1. This was supposed to be someone else originally that pulled out (I'm not sure if Marshall was this game or the Western Illinois game, but both of those were last minute replacements). LSU wins. The score depends on how many drives Saban decides to get out of the first team.
Ole Miss @ Vandy: A conference game this early, wow. Anyway, I will pick Ole Miss to win this one, but Vandy always plays them close, I think. Eli's Heisman non-hype could come to a quick halt here, though.
Oregon @ MSU: I can't claim to know much about Oregon coming in this year besides their horrid uniforms. I do know what MSU was like last year, though. Oregon wins this one.
USL @ South Carolina: I will be extremely disappointed if Lou Holtz lets his team lose to USL.
Fresno State @ Tennessee: Fresno State's been decent, but they won't be good enough to win in Knoxville.
Now onto other games of interest:
Washington @ Ohio State: No prediction, but will be interesting to see what life without Maurice Clarette is like.
TCU @ Tulane: This was all the way at the bottom of the ESPN Schedule. That wasn't a slight of them or anything, they're there because they're playing this on a Monday night. Now I'm all for Monday night football when its Monday Night Football. What the hell is college football doing on TV on a MONDAY NIGHT? and at 7 PM on Labor Day, when people will be ready to get some sleep after a long weekend to work on Tuesday. That's a great way to get asses in the seats. TCU wins the game
North Texas @ Oklahoma: This came in second place in Sean's Bitchslap Game of the Week polling. OU wins big.
Now for what you've all been waiting for: Sean's Bitchslap Game of the Week!
This is awarded to the game that I think will most be one team slapping the other around for four quarters at will (of games I have some interest in, at least). The winner this week:
Miami @ Louisiana Tech: This will be in Shreveport (Miami and ESPN probably wanted to go nowhere near Ruston) as a nationally televised game on ESPN. Tech's had some good games against better opponents, but I don't see this being one of those games. Miami wins big.
Anyway, leave comments (and I'm sure something in here will piss all of you off!)

Well what a week. One cmputer my computer died. It went to get worked on. The tech guy said it was the video card. We got it back to the office and it still didn't work. Then I got my boss's old computer. It died. I stayed till 11 working on our student worker's computer.
Thursday we got the boss's computer back up and it became my new one.
Today, we found out the hard drive was bad, which is funny because it worked when we took it out and put it in another computer on Wednesday.
Now with my harddrive dead, I've lost everything I've done so far. I was given the impression there was a backing up program they still needed to show me. Turns out there wasn;t, I was just supposed to copy and paste to the server.
I thought I'd have mroe to say about all this but I just don't.
I bought a collapsable grill for tailgating. I'm home in New Orleans dogsitting this weekend (my mom is off on the northshore for something) and plan to test it out tomorrow. Send me an e-mail or call my cell (225-505-6690) if you want to help me test it out.
You're Isaac Yankem DDS. Oxymoronically you're a dentist with bad teeth. You're ruthless, menacing, and you bring out most people's fear of going to the dentist's office. Most people don't even remember you at all, but those who do laugh every time they hear your name. These days, you're big bad blond mullet is gone, you wear a mask and people often refer to you as "The Big Red Machine"...or retard...

4:49 PM
And you were wondering why LSU laughs at Tulane so much...
+++++++++++++++
With or without tailgaters, grills will be at the dome
By The Associated Press
NEW ORLEANS -- Both the Saints and Tulane have long bemoaned the fact that the Louisiana Superdome _ with its surroundings of concrete, multilevel parking garages and downtown office high-rises _ is not as conducive to pre-game tailgate parties as they would like.
So Tulane athletic officials, who have been working desperately to improve attendance for a program that was nearly eliminated last spring, have a new concept aimed at boosting tailgating.
The university is going to set up 25 grills on the roof level of one of the four parking garages attached to the dome. Access to the grills will cost $50 per party. The price includes a reserved party plot that includes tables and chairs. Fans will be expected to bring their own food and drink and no personal grills will be permitted.
+++++++++++++++
I can't believe Tulane is doing this. While their president complains about the big boys in college athletics having advantages over the little fish, big groups will have the advantage here. A group of 50 will be paying the same for use of a grill as a group of 3. Those big groups will obviously be better funded than the smaller groups. Someone should form a comission and get a petition signed!
This is a great move for the gameday experience at the dome, I guess, but what are they going to do with the 15 grills that don't get used?

I'm coming off a very hectic week that saw me putting out in a period from last Tueasdy till today what I was told I should be doing during a month on average.
I worked about 70 hours over this past week (not counting today) including about 25 hours AFTER 5 PM on Friday (worked a 13 hour day Friday, 14 on Sat, and 6 or 7 on Sunday)
The three reports that kept me so busy are all completed and sitting waiting to be printed and bound. Once the boss gets back to sign something for the last one, it'll be ready for me to sign in about 20 minutes and I will be out of here.
Thinking about going to Chimes or something tonight. Will call people whenever I get home or you can give me a call to see if I've figured things out yet.
The load is very much lighter now and my stress is gone (for now).
I know I've been a miserable SOB to some people recently and hope that the elimination of this stress helps me correct that.
I'm disapoointed too, but I never hung around the lakes enough to get run over by Joe Dean and I wasn't in BR in the dark days of Archer/Hallman, so no going to their restaurants for me. When I did get to BR, Dinardo was 4-7 and 3-8. If his food was anything like his coaching I'd have gotten ecoli bacteria or something.
I've been feeling very down lately, telling myself its been for various reasons. Then today it hit me about when I started feeling so down.
When I started on my diet.
I've been doing pretty well with it the last two weeks, lost a few pounds.
I think I was doing too well.
Got back to thinking about my PSYC 1001 class about how depression is caused by slowed synapses. Then I realized that synapses, like everything else, needs energy to fire, and energy comes from food going in the mouth.
So fixed that problem and am feeling better. No I don't have an eating disorder or anything, just realized I mis-calculated how much I should be eating daily. I'll adjust and move on, wiser. So maybe a few slices of pizza are what was needed tonight (after two weeks of mostly lettuce), but happy Sean's back for at least a little while tonight.
So say goodbye to the Crow Sting music and hello to the Golden Band from Tigerland. (BTW, I've moved the music to a "lower" place in the page code to allow for faster loading of the text of this page, the most important part of it, for me at least.)
Only 4 weeks till we have our way with UL-Monroe, throw them their money and start the season 1-0.

12:25 AM
I've decided to add music more appropriate for me lately.
11:59 PM Louisiana to Sean: "So you were starting to like your job..."
OK time for a little bit of job related stuff. Right now what I do is write appraisals. They get reviewed by someone with their national certification, we both sign it, it goes out. No big deal.
Welcome the state of Louisiana.
As of August 15, Louisiana is dropping its voluntary certification program for a mandatory license program (this is a good thing) and disallowing non-licensed people from signing a report, even if it is under the supervision of a licensed appraiser (this is a bad thing for me). They've created a "trainee appraiser" license one can apply for that gives the right to co-sign. In order to get that I need 60 classroom hours towards my licensing and 15 hours of USPAP (Appraisal Standards and Practices) BY AUGUST 15!
Now you would think that with a Finance degree with a specialization in Real Estate, I'd have my 60 hours at least, but only my appraisal class counts (for 45 hours at least). My Real Estate Principles and Real Estate Finance classes are deemed useless.
What this means is that unless I can get 30 more hours (15 licensing and 15 USPAP) by August 15, I can still write appraisals for the certified people in the office and get paid the same, but I can't co-sign the reports and when it comes time for me to apply for my MAI (national certification) and State License, any appraisals that I do between August 15 and whenever I get my trainee license I can't record. That could be problematic in getting the correct number of points I need in certain time frames and getting to record any really good complex properties that might come my way.
We're looking to see what can be done about this (it might actually be 60 hours including the USPAP stuff). The appraiser that taught my appraisal class at LSU teaches a USPAP 2-day course pretty regularly, but getting it completed and all the paperwork done to get licensed in less than 3 weeks isn't going to be easy. This of course needs to be done on top of the pile of appraisals I have on my desk (and taking 2 weekdays off might as well be suicide).
Anyway, I'll update when there's some progress on this.
And yes, even when I get my license, I get to be a "trainee" for the 3-4 years. Oh joy.
11:06 PM
I had a report to review tonight so I decided to play with the color scheme a bit. I wanted a more neutral background, there was starting to be a little too much purple and gold here, even for me. I want some sort of earthtone background, if anyone knows a good RGB # to use, feel free to leave it in comments and I'll take a look at it.
I'll refer you to Brian's site for most of the ICON news since I was more or less there for all of the reports Bobby called in.
Now I will break out this convention into the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
Good Bobby didn't let himself get talked into running.
Nice views from the district suite (RCA Dome and the old downtown train station)
LSU won 3rd Place Club Achievement Gold Division
LSU won Honorable Mention for Club Newsletter (probably would have placed if we spent money on glossy paper and color copies instead of service projects and member benefits)
The Schroeder-McDonald-Stacy Ammendment was unanimously passed by the House of Delegates and the resolution I wrote didn't need to be used. (I will post it below)
Bob Moore ripping apart various officials on the House of Delegates deius for incompetance
They kept us away from the Key Clubbers enough to keep anything bad from happening.
Pete Holiday happened to show up.
Half the St Louis Convention video showing the Budweisser plant.
Booing of the St Louis Rams in the Convention video.
Rupert calling his entire board a bunch of "tools" knowing full well what he was saying.
Bad The suite was about 1/3 the size of last year's.
Having to walk past the 40' picture of Peyton "At least I was smart enough to not go to Ole Miss" Manning on the side of the RCA Dome to get to the convention center.
House of Delegates' inability to pass a dues increase in session 1.
No meal at Governor's Gala/Awards ceremony
Left Coast Liberal Ammendments from CalNevHa.
Short blonde moron from CalNevHa making a comment about slavery after Ralph says "mankind" in the pledge is part of our tradition.
Notre Dame stupidity in general.
Notre Dame stupidity in ammendments.
The fireworks display at the baseball game. I've seen better in the street in front of my house on New Years Eve.
Former LSU Star Brandon Larson goes 0-4 with an error at the baseball game.
The forced and contrived scripting for sessions. I'm not blaming the trustees, but year in and year out the parts that are supposed to be conversational turn out sounding ridiculously contrived. Maybe its time to spruce the scripts up a little more.
Ugly The Kiwanis staffer that did not know the words to the NATIONAL ANTHEM!
"No"
The ensuing hour of House fun including the attempted removal of the chair and parlimentarian
Kiwanis President Designate Moore's wife having to call him via cellphone to come to see the shit ging down in CKI House.
The complete joke of the Carthage Pullmans awarded at closing session
Sitting between the Michigan District and Notre Dame at the baseball game.
The candidate pool. Some were good, but when you're wondering which drugs some of the winners are on, you know there's a problem.
Kiwanis Trustee Anderson telling an off-color joke as his intro to CKI.
Well that's what happened at convention more or less. As for away from the convention, all I really got to do was see the NCAA Hall of Champions. They had a huge display on the College World Series full of LSU pictures including an entire wall dedicated to the "Shot Heard Round the South" in 1997. I looked high and low for CWS legends from Tulane and Ole Miss, but none were to be found. In the wrestling display, we found a picture of a very young wrestler for Pitt struggling his way out of a hold. Looking past the fro, we were able to tell that we were looking at none other than Your Olympic Hero Kurt Angle. It's True, It's Damn True.
The ride back was a lot more fun than the ride up. We stopped in Nashville to see one Tony Charles (they won't call him Ant there and I was given wierd looks when I asked to see Ant) at J. Alexander's Restaurant. Ant is doing well and plans to be coming back for a visit sometime in the next month or so. We also stopped in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and accidentally got off at the ghetto exit (at least I hope Bama has a better exit than this one). The sign on the c-store door said "No more than two students allowed in store at a time. Must leave schoolbags outside store." Who said Bama was full of thugs? We stopped in the booming metropolis of Meridian, MS for the night where we watched South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, corrupting Ralph's fragile young mind with its cursing. What's so innappropriate about the lyric "You're a cocksucking asslicking unclefucker"?
Now, for those interested, here is the resolution that would have been presented to the House if the Schroeder-McDonald-Stacy Ammendment failed. I have apparantly lost this historic document, so I am working from memory
WHEREAS We, the Delegates of the 2003 Circle K International House of Delegates meeting in Indianapolis, IN, understand that a dues increase is necessary for the future of CKI; and
WHEREAS Many Delegates have stated that their reasons for not supporting the dues increase proposal placed before this 2003 CKI House of Delegates is a lack of supporting financial information;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Delegates of the 2003 CKI House of Delegates meeting in Indianapolis, IN, charge the 2003-2004 CKI Board of Trustees with the task of researching and proposing a dues increase to be placed before the 2004 CKI House of Delegates meeting in St. Louis, MO; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That supporting financial statements justifying the proposed increase must be provided to the membership via www.CircleK.org no later than 180 days prior to the start of the 2004 CKI Convention in St. Louis, MO; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That due to the current fiscal crisis in CKI, we strongly discourage the mass printing and mailing of these documents.
The hard copy I wrote of this was worded better, but the main points were the same. Had the ammendment Bobby presented failed, this would have gone before the House as a way for the next board to have a mandate to propose the increase in dues and given the members the information that they demanded for this increase. We really didn't think that the ammendment would pass (or that the second half would pass UNANIMOUSLY), so this was waiting in my pocket in the peanut gallery.
Feel free to leave your comments on any of this stuff.

12:14 AM
Thought I'd add some appropriate music for the fun sitting off the Louisiana coast right now.
Work's been very busy this week (I worked at least 4 12 hour days including Saturday) but that's because I got very loaded down. Bigger load than I think my bosses knew I had (they gave me more to do this month than they said I should be trying to average right now. Without putting the numbers out publically)
Anyway, I've gotten out from this pile and have been told that it's OK to tell them no on accepting projects, so I might take that advice in the future.
On the bright side, my schedule lightens up now so I can go to CKI Convention in Indy. Should be interesting. Might even get to see Ant if we get to go through Nashville.
I'm hoping that tomorrow morning this thing has gotten a little stronger, I call into work and they tell me to stay home. That would be nice.
BTW, I'm using the new blogger now, its very cool. I can preview coding changes before putting them out there for everyone to see, a very nice improvement. The interface seems to load faster too, which is cool with me.
If this thing comes through and I stay home, I will post hurricane updates on here tomorrow.
1 Am Eastern (mdnight central) on July 4th. Comedy Central is showing South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. UNCENSORED! We will be hearing "Uncle Fucker" on basic cable TV. Never thought I'd see the day. "That's U-N-C-L-E FUCK YOU UNCLE FUCKAAAAAAAAAAA"
12:38 AM
LSU has released its 2005 and 2006 football schedules
2005
Date Opponent (TV) Site Time Result
09/03/05 TBA TBA -- If this isn't playing Tulane in New Orleans, this should be a home game since LSU needs 7 home games a year to operate the athletic department in black. I think this is TBA b/c we're supposed to face Tulane in 2005 and the location is still being worked on. Just do what they did for baseball and have it in the Superdome and treat it as a neutral site financially. Let Tulane get the "home" game but don't have Tulane getting money of of mostly LSU fans (who would be in at least 50,000 of the seats). A 50/50 split is more than fair (simple math 50% of the 75,000 there is more than 100% of the 25,000 max normally there and more than Tulane would get from playing at LSU). If the egos can't work it out, look for either LaTech or UL-You Pick Em in Baton Rouge
09/10/05 North Texas Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- The first bowl team in years to have a losing record! We destroyed them in 1999 if that tells you anything. Maybe playing in the Sunbelt has made this program tougher.
09/24/05 Tennessee Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- Finally a good game (Note: The first game is not yet announced, this is not meant to be a knock on the fine and historic program at Tulane)
10/01/05 Mississippi St. Starkville, Miss. TBA -- Mooooooooooo
10/08/05 Vanderbilt Nashville, Tenn. TBA -- Maybe I'll go visit Ant if he's still there
10/15/05 Florida Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- Zook should be fired by the time this comes around so I'm not making a prediction
10/22/05 Auburn Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- SEC West Championship game. Glad its in BR and not in Brusly with a 60,000 seat stadium
11/05/05 Arkansas St. Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- Its Homecoming
11/12/05 Alabama Tuscaloosa, Ala. TBA -- IF they're not given the death penalty before then
11/19/05 Ole Miss Oxford, Miss. TBA -- I just hope that the OM admistration removes its head from whatever left wing moron's head its up and gets Col. Reb back on the field for this.
11/26/05 Arkansas Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- Is our contract with CBS making this Friday at 1:30 over yet? This is the worst game b/c its always on a weekday afternoon and college football doesn't belong on Fridays!
2006
Date Opponent (TV) Site Time Result
09/02/06 UL-Lafayette Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- An annual welfare check to one of the Louisiana schools that shouldn't be in Div I-A (and no I don't include Tulane in that!)
09/09/06 Arizona Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- Return game from this year's game in Tuscon. Finally a quality OOC opponent (besides VaTech in 2004)
09/16/06 Northern Illinois Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, probably homecoming
09/30/06 Mississippi St. Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- I hope Curley Hallman, Joe Lee Dunn, and Jackie Cherill are still there
10/07/06 Florida Gainesville, Fla. TBA -- Always been a fun game I've been told, might try to go to this one
10/14/06 Kentucky Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- Hopefully we won;t need a miracle this time
10/21/06 Auburn Auburn, Ala. TBA -- I'm never going back to the shittiest little town on the plains again (an no not just because we lost there last year)
11/04/06 Tennessee Knoxville, Tenn. TBA -- Another one I might try to go to.
11/11/06 Alabama Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- See 2005
11/18/06 Ole Miss Baton Rouge, La. TBA -- If Col Reb isn't on the sideline, we're feeding whatever Ole Miss has out there to Mike.
11/25/06 Arkansas Fayetteville or Little Rock, A TBA -- It'll be Little Rock unfortunately. Arkansas has a pretty neat stadium in Fayetteville (courtesy of everyone that's ever shopped at Walmart) I'd like to see.
There I talked about football without inciting anything, I think. 2006 looks to be a year I'm going to try to make some road games. Just hope I still have the income then. Also looks interesting because instead of having an OOC game in October/November like we normally do, all three are up front followed by 8 straight SEC games. However, i do like that its a 4-4-3 (open dates between the numbers) schedule. That is much better than recent years (and the 2-5-4 in 2005). Spaces out the rests more and allows more preparation for the big SEC games. If it weren't for some tough road games in 2006 (Florida, and Auburn and Tennessee back to back on the road) I'd probably be predicting an SEC Championship this far out.
In other news, download Wierd Al's "Couch Potato" and "Angry White Boy Polka". They are off his new CD and are both hilarious. That is all

So Justin decided to be stupid and say that its embarassing that LSU got eliminated from the College World Series.
Its so embarassing to be one of the top 8 teams in the country.
Its so embarassing to have gone further without our deceased senior 3rd baseman and 5 players injured all year (including 3 pitchers) than we ever should have.
Its so embarassing to have made it to Omaha with 7 starters being freshmen and sophomores.
I wish that this team had not been able to host a regional, had to travel to Houson, and gotten eliminated there in the regional round so that LSU wouldn't be so embarassed by this team in Omaha.
Justin I will say the same thing to you we say to USL and Tulane fans: sit down, shut up, and don't talk shit about baseball until you have five rings!
And there's no bullshit excuse. Smoke in his infinite wisdom started a guy that is 0-4 against USC lifetime and is known for shitty first innings and it happened again. This weekend, the same problems we've had all year came back. Inability to get the timely hit (Friday) and slow starting pitching (today). They just caught this team back to back for once and not spaced out to where one bad game could be recoverred from as it had in the past (i.e., last weekend)
In other LSU news, Pat Henry brought home LSU's 25th Track and Field National Championship with the Women winning this year and the men coming in forth. 25. That's all your toes, fingers, and teeth for you Rebel fans :-)

Look what I just found, on a Tulane message board, believe it or not.
[Disclaimer, I did not create this. I had nothing to do with it. It was brought to my attention by a Tulane fan. Don't blame me.]
1:18 AM
Back to the old music for a few days while I try to fix some stuff here (faster downloads).
A few million people got to see an LSU Superregional win today on ESPN complete with very loud "Wally" and "Omaha" chants at the end.
That's how you shore up recruiting for the next few years.
WWL's headline says it best about today's win. "Back Where They Belong"
12:38 AM
Well a fun e-mail came over the LaMissTenn reflector tonight from Southeastern. I've decided that my opinions belong more here than they do back on the reflector.
I would like to take this opportunity before getting off the listserv to express my thanks to everyone who participated in helping the schools that needed the help most, such as my homeschool Southeastern. We busted our own butts for a long time to get Circle K up and running. Every school busts ass to get their clubs up and running each year.
We asked for outside participation from all schools and received none. That's funny we never got word of anything since the leukemia walk e-mails in AUGUST and we're only 45 minutes away from Hammond. If this is complaining about the walk, it was a SUNDAY NIGHT event. Believe it or not LSU students DO have homework and actually do it.
I am extremely disappointed that an organization that prides itself on serving others couldn't even show support or try to help a group of peers who shared the same interests as yourselves. And I'm disappointed that SLU forgets that CKI also prides itself on fellowship and never reached out to anyone. Was SLU even at Tioga? If they were no one knows because they didn't talk to anyone.
Our school is better for not having a Circle K club if that is the kind of organization it truly is. We were excited and ready to recruit, but we were only three students and an amazing teacher with lives of our own and little time or understanding of the organizations rules and regulations. With the exception of one person, so was Tulane a year ago. And believe it or not, everyone one else has lives of their own too
We asked for help and instead received criticism and belittling from people with inferior leadership skills and an amazing ability to pass judgement. Once again, who did you ask? Ryan? I hardly believe all he did was criticize and belittle you. Did you talk to any other "leaders"?
But I ask, how many of you experienced the situation we faced? The situation where you had to build the club from the ground up in a school where most people commute and the rest have decided that their time will be spent in sororities and fraternities. Lets see, Loyola about 4 years ago, UT-Martin, NSU, ULL when it restarted a few years back. It can be done.
How many of you struggled with trying to hold two meetings a week so that ALL interested parties could participate? Maybe on the flip side, 8 meetings a month was excessive for a club trying to form. But that must be our fault for not realizing it for you because we didn't have the clairvoyance to realize what you were doing on our own.
So how unfair is it of you to pass judgement and say we didn't do enough. It felt like your goal was for us to fail, and in that -you win. Once again who is "you"? With no definition, you accuse over 200 members in a 3 state area of passing judgement and wishing you to fail when about 95% of them didn't even know you existed because your club never talked to anyone!
We have found organizations who are dedicated to really serving others. Organizations where when you ask for help and participation you receive it. I suggest that this organization tries to do the same otherwise you will, in the end, only lose everything you seem to think you are "working" for. So you've started helping to teach a kindergarten? Here's a little tip from the real world that I've picked up in my 3 weeks in it. You don't always get the help you need. Help yourself. If people see you helping yourself and still needing more help they will come to your aide. But if you don't let anyone know what you are doing and where you are struggling, everyone will assume everything is OK.
I am a firm believer for speaking out for the underdog and standing up for what is right. Well where was the speaking out for the past TEN MONTHS???
I hope that things in this organization change and I hope that one day serving others doesn't mean ostracizing peers who want to become a part of your organization. I felt more like an outcast than a part of the in-crowd. WHEN? WHERE? If you go to an event and stand in the corner, you're going to stay standing in the corner. Everyone's been the new kid at sometime in their lives and most of us learn to deal with it. At the very least, we learn not to bitch about no one talking to us if its our own fault.
What a high school mentality this organization has- to be more like a clique, than a group of students dedicated to service. Names, places, times. Your vagueness detracts from your arguements and makes this sound like you need a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAmbulance more than anything.
Good luck in the future, I hope your schools clubs continue to grow. As for Southeastern's it has disolved. Well its a great shame that a club that has given TWO INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENTS can't get its head out of its own ass.
This was quite interesting. The entire e-mail was ripping into an entire district that Lynsi knew nothing about. After not sending out one e-mail to the reflector since last August, she now decides its time to rip into everyone. Why such a long silence followed by such rage? Where are all the supposed calls for help? I just checked the LMT reflector and there are no e-mails from anyone from SLU. Almost everything is from LSU, NSU, or the New Orleans schools. You'd think with all that e-mail she was getting from school near her (LSU and New Orleans), she or someone from her club could have hit Reply once.
This wasn't my best week. I didn;t bill out as much as I could have, but that's because of several problems. First off, we're having network problems that are making my job very horrible (I'm the only one on the new server so I'm the only one with problems). Also, I've been going out of my way to scan stuff and then copy and pasting stuff into my reports that I didn;t need to. No one told me this until they were wondering why my files were so big (its because I have about 30 megs of images in them that I could have just put in as photocopies). That was costing me a good few hours on every appraisal. Also I wasn't told that one of my reports was due on the 1st until the 3rd.This is one we thought wasn't due until the 10th, so it wouldn't be a problem if I took that week off to move. Oops.
Anyway, next week is looking better, we got the network working a little better today and I've got a better sense of what is due and when. I only finished one report this week, but I have one that should be done by midday Monday (if not Sunday should LSU win the superregional in 2 games) and a few real simple appraisals sitting on my desk. I might be able to finish 3 or maybe even 4 appraisals next week. I won't get into what they are, but they are very similar to some other ones I've worked on and as I've been told, repetition = money in this business.
Anyway cable and internet get hooked up tomorrow. Finally. I need my nightly Daily Show and Saturday Night Live to give me laughter at the end of the day. the only bad part of the timing is that I don't think I'll get to see LSU baseball play on ESPN since they play at 11:30 tomorrow and cable comes between 2 and 4. (Yes I am predicting that there won't be a Sunday game on the Deuce!)

10:12 PM
Well I'm back earlier than expected. Now that my phone is back up (after a weekend with no way to call anyone to help me move) I decided that I might as well screw AOL for a week while I wait for my cable to get reconnected. So I registered TGRB8T (sound it out) as an AOL account to have free internet for a week.
Anyway, good and bad things while I was gone:
Good: LSU gets to do its annual Regional Romp after yet another Regional tournament win.
Bad: LSU doesn't get to be the one to send Tulane to Division III hell for good.
Good: Bama goes 2 and out in their regional.
Bad: Southern doesn't win its regional.
Onto non-baseball:
Bad: Phone goes out Friday, stays out till Monday morning.
Good: I get silence when I'm resting after the move.
Good: I get my first paycheck. After 2 weeks I've been paid what I made in about 2 1/2 months at LSU.
Bad: After the week off, I've got a nice pile of stuff to do at work including one appraisal that needs to be delivered by Friday (i.e. I need to finish by Thursday)
Bad: "Classy" Freddie Blassie died earlier today. Its a sad day for all of us Pencil-Necked Geeks.
Good: Nick, Eddie, Monique, and Dan helping me through the move.
Anyway, 36 hour blood drive is next week. If anyone needs a place to stay, my apartment is open. But I won't be able to stay up and party or anything I need to work Friday and possibly Saturday. But I have lots of space (especially since I'm still a little thin on furniture) if people want to stay over. Just bring sleeping bags unless you're planning on joining me in my nice big bed from home (and I'll let you readers guess which 50% of the population is welcome :-) )
I mean their 200+ athletes did a combined 750 hours of community service last year! I've never heard of anyone putting up numbers like that! (and then brag about it)
LSU is the #2 national seed in the NCAA Baseball tournament!
The Baton Rouge Regional is LSU vs. Northeastern (who???) and UNC-Wilmington vs. Toolame. Then the winner of that faces the winner of the Hattiesburg Regional, which includes Southern and USM (of course).
An LSU vs. Southern Superregional at the Box would be wonderful for Baton Rouge. Plus, time to pay back Tulane for that Super Regional a few years back.
DOWN MY BACK AND THROUGH MY CRACK, ROLL WAVE ROLL!
AROUND THE BOWL AND DOWN THE HOLE, ROLL WAVE ROLL!
In a nod to the recent splits over Iraq, the draft text unveiled Monday calls on members to "actively and unreservedly support the Union's common foreign and security policy in a spirit of loyalty and mutual solidarity."
You know, that was the idea behind the US too, but it fell apart somewhere near 1860. I can't see this lasting too long. This Constitution is setting up Europe for Civil War if the countries have differeing opinions on something like war in Iran or Korea. Well, we knew WW III would get here eventually.
I went to a little bar/pup near my house to get a poboy for lunch. I played some video poker there. Put $2 in the machine, left with $5. That's a 150% profit, not bad for gambling.
Then, while waiting to get my money (they merely print out a receipt at the machine) I hear on the radio that the Baton Rouge police now have a suspect in the serial killer case. There's a picture of him on the main page of WWLTV.com. (Sorry Matt, but that's where I go).
Up next, enjoying a veal parmissan poboy, then clean a little here preparing for the move, then its off to RAW IS WAR'S A THAW IN YOUR ICE where I'm hoping that last week wasn;t Ric Flair's last match because despite how long I've been a fan, I've never seen him wrestle live.

VP Cheney cancels appearance at LSU graduation
05/22/2003
Associated Press
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Faced with potentially pressing business in the U.S. Senate, Vice-President Richard Cheney has cancelled plans to speak at LSU's commencement Friday, his press office announced.
His wife Lynne Cheney will speak in his place, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, at 9:15 a.m.
Cheney's press office explained that the Vice-President's vote may be needed to break a possible tie on President George Bush's tax package.
"Unfortunately he'll be unable to go," said Jennifer Millerwise, Cheney's press secretary. "The Senate leadership requested he be available in case they need his vote on the President's jobs and growth package. We believe his vote will be needed."

Well, the new job is going great. Its keeping me busy, but at the same time, I'm making money. Can't wait until I actually get to see some of it. Then maybe I'll have furniture for my apartment and be able to start paying off some of my debts (which are plentiful).
Only 3 days till graduation. I have tickets if anyone wants to go.
8:44 PM
Well, I had to follow up Let Us Break Bread Together. Let me know if it doesn't load for you.
Where stately oaks and broad magnolias shade inspiring halls,
There stands our dear old Alma Mater who to us recalls,
Fond memories that waken in our hearts a tender glow,
And make us happy for the love that we have learned to know.
All praise to thee, our Alma Mater, moulder of mankind,
May greater glory, love unending, be forever thine.
Our worth in life will be thy worth, we pray to keep it true,
And may thy spirit LIVE IN US..... FOREVER L-S-U!

"With the days of "Friends" and "Frasier" numbered, NBC is turning to Whoopi Goldberg, John Larroquette and a racy British import next fall in an effort to develop new comedies."
They better hope they have a big number of days left!
With a victory in Fayetteville tonight, LSU holds on to its 2.5 game lead in the SEC with 2 games left in conference play.
Even if LSU loses the rest of the series to the pigs, they will win the SEC by .5 games at worst.
Looks like we might have a little baseball left at the Box this year after all. SEC Championship should more or less guarantee a regional bid and as long as the Tigers win one more game this weekend and don't go 0 for 2 in the SEC tournament, they should be a Top 8 National Seed and get a Super Regional in Baton Rouge.
The new job is going great. I'm making better progress than I expected on some things that go into appraisal writing. We've got some cool toys in the office that they would kill for over in my LSU office. I'm in a filing room across from my future office for the time being. Our neighbors in the building are moving out and next week they'll be knocking part of the wall down between our office and theirs. Once everything is done being remodelled on that end, one of the older more experienced appraisers will be moving over there and I'll be in my own office somewhere around June 2. I'm hoping to have my first appraisal done by Monday, which isn't bad considering I didn't get to start on it until late Thursday afternoon.
As far as anything else about the job, I've already been warned that agent/client privledge is a very big thing when it comes to appraisals, so I won't be able to say too much on here about what buildings I'm appraising or who I am appraising for. So if you see that I'm not having much to say about work, its not that I'm not excited or enjoying it, I probably just can't.
That said, I'll go into the office a little tomorrow before heading down to New Orleans for POC and Rue Bourbon. LSU announced Dick Cheney as our guest speaker for graduation. If anyone wants to come to that ceremony, I have 11 tickets and it looks like I will only need 3 or 4 for family, so feel free to call, write, or IM me if you want to go to the ceremony.
Tomorrow will be my last day as an employee of the LSU Real Estate Research Institute. I'm going to run some books to the State Recorder of Documents and burn a bunch of CDs of files and my 5 years will be up. My last edition of An Analysis of Baton Rouge Real Estate went in the mail today (my name's even on the cover). Tomorrow will be my last day in 2164 CEBA.
Thursday morning at 9 AM, I report to my new office. At 9:30 I'll be doing a site inspection with my boss in downtown Baton Rouge. That's what the countdown to the Real World is all about. It's here.
I think I did well enough on my final to get summa cum laude (4 gold and 2 purple cords).
I've put this song up because I think its appropriate right now. A few will recognize it, many won't. The song is a hymn that the Tiger Band plays after every game before they sing the Alma Mater. Anyway, I downloaded a version that was arranged for church choir and did a lot of work to rework it to sound like the band. Let me know what you think.
Also, if anyone wants to come to the morning graduation with the unknown (*cough* Vice President Dick Cheney *cough*) speaker, let me know. I have tickets, just need to know how I am alotting them. Family invites are going in the mail in the morning and they will want some too, so let me know!

TAX REFUND!!!! Now if I can sell some books back today, things would be great!
Look what the entire LSU Community just got e-mailed
=======================
Members of the audience attending Commencement will need tickets to enter the Maravich Assembly Center. Tickets for the ceremony can be picked up only by the graduates themselves, who will be required to show an LSU identification card. Those students earning bachelor's or master's degrees will be allotted 4 tickets each. Ph.D. candidates will be allotted 8 tickets each. Tickets can be picked up at the LSU Union Box Office from Monday, May 12, through Wednesday, May 14, between the hours of 9:00 a.m., and 6:00 p.m. If there are any tickets left, they will be given out at the same location, two per student, on Thursday and Friday, May 15 and 16. Any remaining tickets will be distributed only to LSU faculty, staff and students on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning Monday, May 19.
We sincerely regret that we could not inform you sooner about the tickets. We were not informed by the speaker's staff until very recently that we must issue tickets for Commencement.
Degree candidates will not need tickets, but will be required to show their LSU identification card to enter the Assembly Center.
The main commencement ceremony is scheduled to begin with the Academic Procession at 8:45 a.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Graduates and members of the audience planning to attend commencement should arrive earlier than they normally would because increased security procedures will be in effect. Certain parking lots will be closed and some streets will be closed. In addition, all those attending will be required to pass through a magnetometer, or metal detector, and will be asked to open purses or other similar items they're bringing into the Assembly Center. Therefore, we encourage all who plan to attend not to bring anything on their person that could cause difficulties with entering the Assembly Center (e.g., pocket knives, mace, pepper spray, etc.).
At this time graduates are scheduled to enter the Maravich Assembly Center through the Southeast Portal. Please check your e-mail before Commencement in case this changes, and for other announcements.

I'm glad I'm getting handicapped parking for my mom because this is going to be a mess. As I said on the Reveille's site, this looks like its being handled by the same geniuses that handled Sugar Bowl Tickets.
The Reveille is running a story today that it believes that either President George W. Bush or Vice President Dick Cheney will be the guest speaker for graduation. No one can confirm rumors, but the secret service is making preparations for the speaker and the BR airport police are making preparations for a high profile landing (Air Force 1???)
Anyway, the bad thing is that I'm going to be limitted to 4 (maybe 6 if they have extra) tickets to the big morning graduation. So what I need to know is if anyone wants to go. I'm prioritizing family first, but after that I'll see who I can get in. I might even see if I can get people that won't use them to pick up tickets if there is demand.
Let me know ASAP if you want to come to the morning graduation and I will see what I can do!

This is a summary of what will be appearing in the enxt issue of Sports Illustrated on the Coach Price situation. This was from someone listening to the Finebaum radio show (he's Bama's Buddy D I guess)
price went straight to the club after the corporate he plane landed.
got a seat by the stage and started buying drinks for the dancers.
one waitress, a bama fan, recognized him and called him "coach". he brought his finger to his lips and told her to keep it quiet.
per destiny:
he asked her to "sit" with him.
later, he bought a $60 table dance and then asked her to take him back to one of the private rooms. there, per destiny, he got a little bad and he had to be calmed down. he paid her $200. he told her his name was mike, that he was married with kids and had a room at the crowne plaza. he asked her to meet him there later. destiny says that she's heard pick-up lines before and said that he had done this before. he was smooth. he told destiny twice that she was the most beautiful women he had ever seen. (that line ought to be around for awhile.)
he then left for the golf banquet dinner.
when that was over, he made a bee-line back to the strip club.
there he propositioned some more waitresses/dancers. he bought more drinks . he was recognized by some florida fans.
per another unnamed woman talking to SI:
about midnight, price went to his room, where he later met up with two women that he had propositioned earlier at the club. the three got after it in a very aggressive way. the women, wanting to add some levity to the action, started screaming "roll tide!!" price replied by yelling "it's rollin', baby, it's rollin'!!!!"
one of the women left before price did; the other stayed in the room and ordered room service after he left. no mention as to whether $$$ changed hands.
also, there is a report about him cruising bars in tuscaloosa, trying to pick up coeds. one account has him getting a girl to go back to his condo complex with him on the pretext that he had forgotten his access code at the front gate. when they got in, he asked the girl up to his condo - saying that it was ok because his wife was still back in washington. she declined the offer.
Well that certainly gives new meaning to "Down my back, through my crack, ROLL TIDE ROLL"
"If we must take this war into their homes and burn them to the ground, we will do so."
