Here's some simple math for everyone:

Getting no reading done
Phonecall with mom about computer problems
LSU getting its ass handed to it by Tulane
Possibly screwing myself out of summa cum laude
+ Last minute Trends shit dropped on my plate at work
Vanilla Vodka Screwdriver

I can't wait for Friday to get here (going to JAZZFEST!!!! with Shannon and Alison)

If no one's heard, there's all sorts of rumors that Alabama head football coach Mike Price may be getting canned after ordering himself a little companionship and a lot of alcohol on his Bama credit card.

True or not, it's a lot of fun watching the Gumps go into total meltdown over on the Tider Insider. Take a look for a laugh.

Well, not all redesigns are as good as this one. Take the Atlanta Falcons for example.

Welcome to Version 2.0 of the site! Took me about 2 hours to recode everything when I should have been studying this afternoon, but the muses of HTML inspried me and I couldn't stop. Anyway, leave comments on what you think of it.

Hey doing some remodelling today if things look wierd around here. I should be studying for my Strategic Management test but oh well, I have been insprided by the HTML muses.

Just wanted to put my graduation details up for everyone. I'm working on my invite list and just after dealing with family I'm over the number of invites I got (I'm going to have to print some more on the blank thank you cards I got) so wanted to throw out the invite to all my friends on here. I don't have a formal one in front of me, so here's the simple stuff:

Friday May 23, 2003

Campus-wide Graduation Ceremony 9-10 AM Pete Maravich Assembly Center
E.J. Ourso College of Business Administration Graduation Ceremony 4:00 PM Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

To clear up, the early one is the really nice ceremony with the Tiger Band and some national speaker. The later one is where I walk across the stage and get my diploma. I know some people will be busy with Paul and Michelle's wedding this day, but just wanted to put it out there for everyone. As for celebration and all, that's still a question. A cousin is getting married the next day in Hammond and my mom and I are still trying to figure out what we are doing between graduation and the wedding, if she will go stay with family in Hammond, if she will be at my apartment, if we'll both go back to New Orleans, etc. Right now lets just plan something tentatively for March May 25 :-)

Hey just felt like putting up an update since I haven't in a while.

I went to Holy thursday mass this year. Its alot different from what I remember for whatever reason. Anyway, during the Homily, our pastor went into a big talk on what he called the Sacrament of Service and how all Christians are called to serve others in the Washing of the Feet. Just a nice change from some of the homilies I've heard up at LSU lately, including one fun little liberal diatrabe against the war.

I'm home in New Orleans right now and have a lot to do. My mom wants me to clean my closet (which has been a mess since I moved out for good about 3 years ago) and I need to get things ready for the great move out in May when I move into a nice 2 bedroom townhouse in my complex. Its going to be so nice to have my queen size bed in Baton Rouge. Also, I need to work out the invite list for graduation and since my mom has all the addresses for family, I need to do that here too. She also wants me to disconnect her old computer. When I get a chance I'm going to take her old computer and my old computer and see if I can make something functional between the two of them. Also, I think I'm getting a scanner out of the deal because her scanner won't work on her new computer because its not XP-compatible. God I hate Winblows XP.

I also have a 700+ page book I need to read. "The Basics of Appraisal". Its for the new job, of course. Went to CC's tonight and made a little progress. If I can tomorrow I will go for a few more hours and see if I can knock out 100 pages or so. Now I know some are thinking that's slow and it kinda is, but this isn't a story, its textbook reading, and its pretty technical. Did you know that if you want to build a skyscraper but the city has a limitation on the percentage of your airspace that can be occupied, you might be able to buy a neighboring property's airspace to add to your total air space (and can thus take up more airspace)? That's the fun little gems in this book.

Things to do this week:
LSU CKI Banquet Edition Newsletter (find out why the LSU tables are always laughing/giggling at closing session of DCON)
LSU SG End of the Year Banquet Thursday night. Yay I get to sit back and watch SG give each other a bunch of awards! This is because Groovin is now part of SG and so all us Directors got invited. At least I know a few of them (including the president) so it won't be total strangers.
ISDS Problem Set. Haven't looked at it yet, but I doubt its as bad as the last one.
Possible Final issue of the book I've worked on for 5 years. The LSU Foundation's cutting funding b/c of the low interest rates and there's no one in the office to train to take over between now and May, so the professors are thinking about just ending the publication. So I need to throw some stuff in I was going to save for the next book and get it together this week (I hope. This will be about the 6th "this week" I've told myself it would be done in)
LSU CKI Banquet. Man I'm going to be doing a lot of Banquet eating this week. And to think I'm trying to lose weight. Anyway, this time I'm giving away the 2nd VP pin and this time there's no chance of it coming back to me!

The LSU Lady tiger Softball team played a hell of a game tonight against Ole Miss. A girl that hadn't gotten a hit all game and had no homeruns all year hit a GRANDSLAM HOMERUN in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game 10-6. Bear in mind that softball normally goes 7 innings. Cox Sports is wonderful. Love seeing this kind of stuff carried on the air. Plus its always good to see LSU beat Ole Miss. God I hate Ole Miss. Even more than Winblows XP.

Hey, if you're not sure that the world is fucked right now, think about this fact:

Kid Rock has a song being played on country stations and Johnny Cash has a song being played on alternative stations.

(Reuters) The United States Treasury has announced it is recalling the new Texas quarters. "We are recalling all of the new Texas quarters that were recently issued," Treasury Undersecretary Russell Shackelford said in a press conference Monday.

"This comes in the wake of numerous reports to this agency that the quarters will not work in parking meters, toll booths, vending machines, pay phones, or other coin-operated devices. We believe the problem lies in a design flaw," said Shackelford. Shackelford states, "The winning design for the Texas quarter was submitted by Texas A&M student William Doutrieux. Apparently, the duct tape holding the two dimes and nickle together keeps jamming the coin-operated devices."

Well time for the bit ass update. I haven't really posted since before DCON. So get some coffee, and get ready to read becuase I've got a lot to get through.

DCON, Oh DCON. Where to start?

Let's start chronologically and see where that takes us.

Friday March 28

So I get there and Paul Newfield is running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Dave and Ted are frantically trying to figure out music for opening session. Paul is about to kill Tasha. I can tell Funroe is going to be special when we smell the chlorine in the main session room. Powerpoint for the weekend is FUBAR and Paul is trying to cover and scripts are not yet complete.

Opening Session starts and there's no one there. LSU's small delagation of 14 ties with NSU for the most people there. 14! Less than 100 people at opening session. Highlights of opening session were Mattt Muelbergher coming out to "My Ding-a-ling" (excellent choice of music, not sure who to credit the choice with) and splashing sounds coming from the pool whenever a speaker takes a pause. Truly magical. Oh, one good thing is that I got to see Christen Gremillion Timmins for the first time since her wedding.

Next was Delegate/Sgt at Arms training. We'll come back to this one.

Here comes Caucus! Our LTG Ryan ran for Gov so we needed to have someone run our room. Christen took over. Got to catch up a little. In the Governor race, Becca impressed, Ryan didn't. No LTG candidates, but Jody and Michelle come in presenting bylaw changes that no one knew about coming into DCON. What's up with that? They were dropped on us with one day to think about before House of Delegates. Todd scares us by talking about running for Sec Treas. I almost end up sleeping with the rest of the outgoing board because I didn't think I could stay in the room with Todd without killing him in his sleep. Damn Todd for deciding not to run (no, I don't want to kill him, just think about who the rest of the outgoing board was ;-) )

Fun time bowling as half the people going get lost. We get there to find the most ghetto bowling alley this side of Rock and Bowl. They had scoring above the alley just like at a good bowling alley, except that instead of TV monitors, they used little overhead projectors. Also, the lanes were crap. Night finished off with New Board vs. Old Board and the old board opened up a can of whoop ass on the youngsters.

Saturday, March 29

I skip the Safety Fair to work on Resolutions in the Convention Office while Paul works on Powerpoint and script for that night's Presidents Ball. That's right, it wasn't finished until Saturday morning. Only 9 kids show up for the safety fair and most of them come from the pool. Its too bad that Erin wasn't able to get kids to come, but that's what happens when you put someone from Baton Rouge in charge of mobilizing people that live in Monroe.

Up next is Caucus II. Ryan drops out of Gov, Becca is the only candidate we see. I make a motion to nominate for LTG off the floor to avoid having to turn in blank ballots, but no one that is nominated accepts. I leave banging my head against the wall as it looks like Bayou South has sunk to a level below anything I've heard of in almost a decade.

Now for the picnic. Getting there was an adventure. Directions were wrong, distances were wrong. But I got a beautiful tour of Monroe. Luckily I didn't run out of gas in the process. Trustee Ricky refuses to get pied, so I decide to let people that want revenge on me to pie me instead and manage to raise $100 when Lenny thought that making people raise $50 for me would keep the pie from being used. Beth finally gets her revenge.

Free time

House of Delegates. UGH. Ralph Johnson becomes LSU's Lauren Call despite being the absolute physical opposite. After an hour of my life I'll never get back discussing the Bylaw changes, the unholy trinity of UNO, LSU, and Mississippi State are the only clubs to vote against it. I didn't like the change of divisional lines, but most of the district seems OK with it, so I'm OK with it passing. Besides I've always said that the district/division needs LSU to survive more than LSU needs the district/division to survive. LSU will be fine no matter what division it and other clubs are in. As far as HOD goes, that's where my allegences lay first. (I'm sure that will piss some people off). After this fun, LSU's own Ralph Johnson moves to pass Resolutions without reading them aloud. This means that no one gets formally thanked and the district passes a resolution that it supports unofficialcki.org, a resolution I included only because I wanted the debate. I am pissed and almost drive home. The delegates were obviously not trained on what resolutions were and why we do them. They cared only about themselves and not their district or any of the work that people put into the convention. (Including Ted Newfield spending the free time that afternoon typing up all the resolutions into Powerpoint so they could be presented in HOD)

President's Banquet. LSU racks up award big time. Rhonda gets ROBBED from Distinguished Treasurer, especially considering that the rest of the board (minus me) got Outstanding. There's something serioulsy wrong with the district awards packet if Rhonda's not Distinguished (no arguement that Beth didn't deserve Outstanding, she's awesome, but spread the Distinguished love around). I get inducted into the Weathersby Society which was nice because its very exclusive company (Governor Jody was the only other current member admitted this year). Also Katie from Tulane gets a big scholarship, which is awesome for her and med school at UConn.

Dance. I skip most of it hanging out chatting in the convention office. I end up being let to read the nomination letters that people wrote for me to get into Weathersby (Lenny said I should). I know that a few of the people that wrote for me are reading this, and I want to thank everyone for the very kind words. Lenny was right, they made me blush. After the dance, hang out with Sarah for a while and go get milk and cookies from the Alumni Association. I guess I will be joining them in the fall.

Sunday, March 30

Farewell Brunch. I read the Resolutions during breakfast, maybe 15 people bother to listen to them. The website resolution gets a combination of applause and a few shocked looks. Oh well, people should have known what they were approving when they voted, its their own damn fault. There's not as much Powerpoint to make fun of this year and we continue the LSU tradition of creating stories as a group at the tables. Gov. Becca says she doesn't want LSU or UNO to steal her gavel and I yell out something like "UNO's not getting it". They don't. We do.

Ride home. We pass a big field of yellow flowers and Shannon decides to go running in them. We take pictures. We catch two other LSU CKI cars on the road and stop at a big cement gorilla for a group picture. I get my LSU flag in its hand and we pose with the Governor's Gavel. We catch Wilson in Vidalia, LA and we stop at Ruby Tuesday's to eat in Natchez, MS. Worst service I've seen in a long time. Our guaranteed hot fries were cold.

Monday, March 31

Slow day, work and class. Groovin' Directors Meeting. Then stay up all night doing statistics homework and setting up the volunteer sign up sheets for Groovin' on the Grounds. I hate ISDS. 50 problems for only 20 points and everything had to be typed up.

Tuesday, April 1

Day just drags on as I am working on half an hour of sleep. Fall asleep around 8 PM

Wednesday, April 2

Another long day of work. Nothing special in my head. Tiger Weekly claims that the Dixie Chicks are headlining Groovin. They say its an April Fools joke but lots of campus take it seriously.

Thursday, April 3

Go to the Union around 12 to get some money and see how stage setup for Groovin is going. We're supposed to have a fold out stage so I'm thinking it should be almost up. I get to the front steps and see the frame for a roof on the ground. Walk out, stare in disbelief, walk to the union to ask our advisor if I saw what I think I saw. Get lunch and go out to help. Skip work and class to stay out. Come back at 5 after my 3:00 class and they are still working on it but the stage is at least up by then (thanks to help from some guys from the PMAC). Go to Circle K and when it is over, they have stopped for the night. Me and the other directors work on little things and almost kill each other due to the stress of the day (stage drama plus one of us lost the SG Presidential election).

Friday, April 4

Groovin'. Overall, the event goes well. Festival runs extremely smoothly and we make it through most of the day with more than enough volunteers. That means my end of this went well. Tom came and helped out and I ended up getting him backstage. We directors almost killed each other again due to stress and stupidity on several of our parts (including me). I am out there 8 AM to 2 AM except for a half hour trip to the apartment to change out of some grungy clothes bothering me. I manage to sprain my ankle on the way to the car for that trip. I see lots of friends out there from LSU and ULL.

Saturday, April 5

Groovin' Take Down. We normally do this immediately after the concert, but it was too much to start then. All goes well till about noon, we are moving fast. Then the rain starts. Then it gets harder. Then it pours. Most jump into the semi, I get under it b/c I can't jump on my ankle. When I see lightning behind the tower I get dragged into the trailer. We sit in there for 40 minutes as the Parade Grounds fill with water. When it finally calms, there's 2 inches of water where we need to jump down. That means taking off my shoe and my ankle wrap to jump. I leave after lunch in the union because I need to get to Leo and Allison's wedding and I can't do much more on my ankle (I had already done too much on it).

Leo and Allison's wedding!!! I finally get to relax. The service is a little long, but that's because we get an old school pre-Vatican II priest. This guy pulled out stuff from the Torah and explained some Bible stories in ways I never got from younger priests and his explainations actually made a lot more historical sense. Ant drove so I got to rest my ankle on the way down and got to drink from the open bar. I needed that after the weeks above. It was a very nice wedding and reception and a good time was had by all. Ant and I wish we had brought "guests" but otherwise it was great.

Sunday, April 6

I sleep late for the first time in weeks and do nothing. Absolutely nothing. I might have done laundry, that's it.

Monday, April 7

Test on Cost Approach to Appraisal. Not much more. Despite flooding on campus, life is so much simpler.

Tuesday, April 8

Class, work, finally get to go to a Golden Key meeting for the first time this semester. Eat pizza, make goody packets for St James, catch up with Rebecca Timmins.

====================

Wow, that's a lot more than I hoped for. Anyway, you are now caught up. I think you'll all understand why I've not written much. Tomorrow I go to my future office to do a time run to the office and pick up some books they want me to read. I have a few little things to do on Thursday for class and then its time to go camping (and after reading this, I think you all know how badly I need to get away from it all)

Everyone please read as "Dana from Bama" tells the CKI web krewe to kindly fuck off.

I know updates have been few and far between, I will fix that before I go camping this weekend
