I mean their 200+ athletes did a combined 750 hours of community service last year! I've never heard of anyone putting up numbers like that! (and then brag about it)
LSU is the #2 national seed in the NCAA Baseball tournament!
The Baton Rouge Regional is LSU vs. Northeastern (who???) and UNC-Wilmington vs. Toolame. Then the winner of that faces the winner of the Hattiesburg Regional, which includes Southern and USM (of course).
An LSU vs. Southern Superregional at the Box would be wonderful for Baton Rouge. Plus, time to pay back Tulane for that Super Regional a few years back.

In a nod to the recent splits over Iraq, the draft text unveiled Monday calls on members to "actively and unreservedly support the Union's common foreign and security policy in a spirit of loyalty and mutual solidarity."
You know, that was the idea behind the US too, but it fell apart somewhere near 1860. I can't see this lasting too long. This Constitution is setting up Europe for Civil War if the countries have differeing opinions on something like war in Iran or Korea. Well, we knew WW III would get here eventually.
I went to a little bar/pup near my house to get a poboy for lunch. I played some video poker there. Put $2 in the machine, left with $5. That's a 150% profit, not bad for gambling.
Then, while waiting to get my money (they merely print out a receipt at the machine) I hear on the radio that the Baton Rouge police now have a suspect in the serial killer case. There's a picture of him on the main page of WWLTV.com. (Sorry Matt, but that's where I go).
Up next, enjoying a veal parmissan poboy, then clean a little here preparing for the move, then its off to RAW IS WAR'S A THAW IN YOUR ICE where I'm hoping that last week wasn;t Ric Flair's last match because despite how long I've been a fan, I've never seen him wrestle live.

VP Cheney cancels appearance at LSU graduation
05/22/2003
Associated Press
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Faced with potentially pressing business in the U.S. Senate, Vice-President Richard Cheney has cancelled plans to speak at LSU's commencement Friday, his press office announced.
His wife Lynne Cheney will speak in his place, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, at 9:15 a.m.
Cheney's press office explained that the Vice-President's vote may be needed to break a possible tie on President George Bush's tax package.
"Unfortunately he'll be unable to go," said Jennifer Millerwise, Cheney's press secretary. "The Senate leadership requested he be available in case they need his vote on the President's jobs and growth package. We believe his vote will be needed."

Well, the new job is going great. Its keeping me busy, but at the same time, I'm making money. Can't wait until I actually get to see some of it. Then maybe I'll have furniture for my apartment and be able to start paying off some of my debts (which are plentiful).
Only 3 days till graduation. I have tickets if anyone wants to go.

Well, I had to follow up Let Us Break Bread Together. Let me know if it doesn't load for you.
Where stately oaks and broad magnolias shade inspiring halls,
There stands our dear old Alma Mater who to us recalls,
Fond memories that waken in our hearts a tender glow,
And make us happy for the love that we have learned to know.
All praise to thee, our Alma Mater, moulder of mankind,
May greater glory, love unending, be forever thine.
Our worth in life will be thy worth, we pray to keep it true,
And may thy spirit LIVE IN US..... FOREVER L-S-U!

"With the days of "Friends" and "Frasier" numbered, NBC is turning to Whoopi Goldberg, John Larroquette and a racy British import next fall in an effort to develop new comedies."
They better hope they have a big number of days left!
With a victory in Fayetteville tonight, LSU holds on to its 2.5 game lead in the SEC with 2 games left in conference play.
Even if LSU loses the rest of the series to the pigs, they will win the SEC by .5 games at worst.
Looks like we might have a little baseball left at the Box this year after all. SEC Championship should more or less guarantee a regional bid and as long as the Tigers win one more game this weekend and don't go 0 for 2 in the SEC tournament, they should be a Top 8 National Seed and get a Super Regional in Baton Rouge.
The new job is going great. I'm making better progress than I expected on some things that go into appraisal writing. We've got some cool toys in the office that they would kill for over in my LSU office. I'm in a filing room across from my future office for the time being. Our neighbors in the building are moving out and next week they'll be knocking part of the wall down between our office and theirs. Once everything is done being remodelled on that end, one of the older more experienced appraisers will be moving over there and I'll be in my own office somewhere around June 2. I'm hoping to have my first appraisal done by Monday, which isn't bad considering I didn't get to start on it until late Thursday afternoon.
As far as anything else about the job, I've already been warned that agent/client privledge is a very big thing when it comes to appraisals, so I won't be able to say too much on here about what buildings I'm appraising or who I am appraising for. So if you see that I'm not having much to say about work, its not that I'm not excited or enjoying it, I probably just can't.
That said, I'll go into the office a little tomorrow before heading down to New Orleans for POC and Rue Bourbon. LSU announced Dick Cheney as our guest speaker for graduation. If anyone wants to come to that ceremony, I have 11 tickets and it looks like I will only need 3 or 4 for family, so feel free to call, write, or IM me if you want to go to the ceremony.
Tomorrow will be my last day as an employee of the LSU Real Estate Research Institute. I'm going to run some books to the State Recorder of Documents and burn a bunch of CDs of files and my 5 years will be up. My last edition of An Analysis of Baton Rouge Real Estate went in the mail today (my name's even on the cover). Tomorrow will be my last day in 2164 CEBA.
Thursday morning at 9 AM, I report to my new office. At 9:30 I'll be doing a site inspection with my boss in downtown Baton Rouge. That's what the countdown to the Real World is all about. It's here.
I think I did well enough on my final to get summa cum laude (4 gold and 2 purple cords).
I've put this song up because I think its appropriate right now. A few will recognize it, many won't. The song is a hymn that the Tiger Band plays after every game before they sing the Alma Mater. Anyway, I downloaded a version that was arranged for church choir and did a lot of work to rework it to sound like the band. Let me know what you think.
Also, if anyone wants to come to the morning graduation with the unknown (*cough* Vice President Dick Cheney *cough*) speaker, let me know. I have tickets, just need to know how I am alotting them. Family invites are going in the mail in the morning and they will want some too, so let me know!

=======================
Members of the audience attending Commencement will need tickets to enter the Maravich Assembly Center. Tickets for the ceremony can be picked up only by the graduates themselves, who will be required to show an LSU identification card. Those students earning bachelor's or master's degrees will be allotted 4 tickets each. Ph.D. candidates will be allotted 8 tickets each. Tickets can be picked up at the LSU Union Box Office from Monday, May 12, through Wednesday, May 14, between the hours of 9:00 a.m., and 6:00 p.m. If there are any tickets left, they will be given out at the same location, two per student, on Thursday and Friday, May 15 and 16. Any remaining tickets will be distributed only to LSU faculty, staff and students on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning Monday, May 19.
We sincerely regret that we could not inform you sooner about the tickets. We were not informed by the speaker's staff until very recently that we must issue tickets for Commencement.
Degree candidates will not need tickets, but will be required to show their LSU identification card to enter the Assembly Center.
The main commencement ceremony is scheduled to begin with the Academic Procession at 8:45 a.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Graduates and members of the audience planning to attend commencement should arrive earlier than they normally would because increased security procedures will be in effect. Certain parking lots will be closed and some streets will be closed. In addition, all those attending will be required to pass through a magnetometer, or metal detector, and will be asked to open purses or other similar items they're bringing into the Assembly Center. Therefore, we encourage all who plan to attend not to bring anything on their person that could cause difficulties with entering the Assembly Center (e.g., pocket knives, mace, pepper spray, etc.).
At this time graduates are scheduled to enter the Maravich Assembly Center through the Southeast Portal. Please check your e-mail before Commencement in case this changes, and for other announcements.

I'm glad I'm getting handicapped parking for my mom because this is going to be a mess. As I said on the Reveille's site, this looks like its being handled by the same geniuses that handled Sugar Bowl Tickets.
The Reveille is running a story today that it believes that either President George W. Bush or Vice President Dick Cheney will be the guest speaker for graduation. No one can confirm rumors, but the secret service is making preparations for the speaker and the BR airport police are making preparations for a high profile landing (Air Force 1???)
Anyway, the bad thing is that I'm going to be limitted to 4 (maybe 6 if they have extra) tickets to the big morning graduation. So what I need to know is if anyone wants to go. I'm prioritizing family first, but after that I'll see who I can get in. I might even see if I can get people that won't use them to pick up tickets if there is demand.
Let me know ASAP if you want to come to the morning graduation and I will see what I can do!

This is a summary of what will be appearing in the enxt issue of Sports Illustrated on the Coach Price situation. This was from someone listening to the Finebaum radio show (he's Bama's Buddy D I guess)
price went straight to the club after the corporate he plane landed.
got a seat by the stage and started buying drinks for the dancers.
one waitress, a bama fan, recognized him and called him "coach". he brought his finger to his lips and told her to keep it quiet.
per destiny:
he asked her to "sit" with him.
later, he bought a $60 table dance and then asked her to take him back to one of the private rooms. there, per destiny, he got a little bad and he had to be calmed down. he paid her $200. he told her his name was mike, that he was married with kids and had a room at the crowne plaza. he asked her to meet him there later. destiny says that she's heard pick-up lines before and said that he had done this before. he was smooth. he told destiny twice that she was the most beautiful women he had ever seen. (that line ought to be around for awhile.)
he then left for the golf banquet dinner.
when that was over, he made a bee-line back to the strip club.
there he propositioned some more waitresses/dancers. he bought more drinks . he was recognized by some florida fans.
per another unnamed woman talking to SI:
about midnight, price went to his room, where he later met up with two women that he had propositioned earlier at the club. the three got after it in a very aggressive way. the women, wanting to add some levity to the action, started screaming "roll tide!!" price replied by yelling "it's rollin', baby, it's rollin'!!!!"
one of the women left before price did; the other stayed in the room and ordered room service after he left. no mention as to whether $$$ changed hands.
also, there is a report about him cruising bars in tuscaloosa, trying to pick up coeds. one account has him getting a girl to go back to his condo complex with him on the pretext that he had forgotten his access code at the front gate. when they got in, he asked the girl up to his condo - saying that it was ok because his wife was still back in washington. she declined the offer.
Well that certainly gives new meaning to "Down my back, through my crack, ROLL TIDE ROLL"

I went to see X2 tonight and it blew me away. It was a lot better than and felt so much more like the comic books than X-Men did.
Before I talk about the movie, I'll say a few things about the previews. The Hulk looks horrible. Terrible. Someone's got to be the loser in the summer blockbuster race this year and I've got a feeling that the Hulk is it. X2, T3, and Matrix Reloaded are going to destroy the Hulk.
Speaking of Matrix Reloaded, the trailer looked awesome. I think that will make a good end of finals treat to go see opening day.
OK, enough of that, time to talk about X2.
***WARNING: X2 Spoilers Below***
Everyone's gushing on and on about Nightcrawler. I'll admit that he was awesome, but I'm excited over something else: PHOENIX!!! Now it looks like they are minorly messing with the story of the Phoenix, but after the end of X2 (which Nick compared to the end of Wrath of Khan/beginning of Search for Spock, good comparison) its pretty obviously that up next is X3: The Phoenix Saga and then probably X4: The Dark Phoenix Saga. I'm just wondering if they'll be going all out with the M'Kron Crystal, Lilandra, Starjammers, and the Shi'ar Empire like they did with the cartoon (and all that I just mentioned was after they cut a whole bunch of stuff just to fit Phoenix into 5 episodes) or go some other way with Phoenix saving the world from Magneto (who, remember, is now running loose on the planet and has Mystique posing as Senator Kelly).
Another question I have is who gets the Iceman/Pyro push in X3? X-Men making cameos in X2 were Collosus, Jubilee, Kitty Pride (Shadowcat), and Beast (Dr. Henry McCoy). My money is on Collosus and Kitty personally. Jubilee's done nothing but sit in class for the last two movies while Kitty's used her powers in both and it looks like they were just testing out Collosus' look in this movie. They could stretch things to get Beast involved (maybe as a presidential advisor or something), but I have a feeling that any movie about Phoenix is going to be long enough without having to bring in new characters.
Other great things: Wolverine finally gets to tear into people on a massive level, less whiny bitch/prick Cyclops (even though everyone has seemed to forget he's supposed to be the leader of the X-Men), and they actually do something with Storm (which may keep Halle Berry around for a few more movies, she was pissed after the first one).
Anyway, awesome movie, and I will be going to see it again.
