Well I'm glad to have an international bureaucrat from Norway standing up for my American right to pay more taxes, a right I truly treasure. Can we please kick these idiots out of NYC and send them to Switzerland where they belong?

9:09 PM
Thankfully the dark day of having to support the Barn is over. DIE WAR CHICKENS DIE!
I feel much better now.
So, I currently have 2 Capital One Bowl tickets and 2-4 more coming from LSU. Who wants to hit Orlando for New Years?
So I'm 24 now. One year from a quarter century. I almost went out and bought myself a 2004 Pontiac Vibe, but I decided I needed to get out of debt before taking on more debt. I'm planning on getting a 2005 Vibe (taking advantage of year-end clearances) next October as part of my official quarter-century crisis.
Other things going on. I went down to New Orleans last Friday for a property visit and I was suprised to find that Country Day had a major game against district rival (and #2 in the state for 1A schools) Boothville-Venice. I was shocked at this coincidence. Anyway, the CD Cajuns took out 5 years of anger on the Oilers (we hadn't beaten them since my senior year) with a 45-0 blowout. I chose a really good game to go to, I mean I chose a good Friday to go work in New Orleans.
Then Saturday it was down to Thibodaux for Jason and Mary's wedding. Fun time at the reception. Duck quesadillas taste a lot better than they sound. I left my credit card at Rox's Bar with a tab because we left so fast, I never got a second drink. Its in the mail and will hopefully get to the office tomorrow.
Yesterday I didn't do much for my birthday. The boss usually takes the office out for birthdays, but we have 5 in late Sept/Oct, so to save time and money, he just takes everyone to Ruth's Chris. They happened to choose yesterday, so that was good. Otherwise I didn't do much at all.
Interesting speech at Country Day tonight by my history teacher for their Homecoming: "75 Years... In Spite of Ourselves". Wish I could see it. Maybe they will have him do it again Alumni Weekend in the spring.
Friday night is a guy's night at Hooters, names being withheld to protect the soon to be guilty. Saturday is my birthday party/Homecoming. LSU finally takes on the Trojans (even though its Troy, not USC) and I will be in the student section for it (for those of you keeping score, I have not sat in my season ticket seats since the first game).
The next few weeks look like work will be sending me down to New Orleans at least once if not more, so if anyone's doing things in New Orleans, let me know and I might end up being down there for work at the same time.
9:45 AM
I've been too busy with work to post too much lately. The big news is that I'm now an LSU Season Ticket owner (South Endzone Section 17) and that I've upgraded to a laptop (since my desktop at home had an incident with its motherboard and static electricity).
In the next few weeks I'm going to post my musings on college football this year in three categories, the Sisters of the Poor (all the Div 1-A schools in Louisiana wasting taxpayer money to support programs that should be 1-AA or 2, i.e. UL-You Pick Em), non-SEC Top 10 teams and the SEC. Will I boldly predict that LSU will go undefeated for the next 3 years? Check back and find out.

In the immortal words of Eric Cartman... "Democrats piss me off."
Earlier, Al Sharpton said that Republicans still owed African Americans the 40 Acres and a Mule President Lincoln promised them. Ho boy.
Then, I caught the tail end of John John Edward's speech tonight, just in time to hear him talk about how much he and Big John are going to support the military in funding, technology and numbers (do I need to go over Big John's Senate voting record on military funding? He didn't want the B-2 bomber!) how they won't take 3 years to make changes in intelligence as suggested by the 9/11 Commission (a report President Bush has had... two weeks? and once again, I didn't see Sen. Big John proposing anything for the last 20 years from the Senate) and, in a sure plea to the informed Democratic base, proposed an increase in the minimum wage.
Sad that the suggestion of increasing the minimum wage got more applause than supporting the troops, but I'm not shocked. Promising an increase in the minimum wage is nothing more than pandering for votes, though they claim it will END POVERTY. Let's think about this.
If you increase he minimumwage, those companies that employ people based at minimum wage must make the difference either by cutting jobs or increasing prices. An automatic hit is felt by everyone INCLUDING WORKERS PAID AT MINIMUM WAGE as McDonald's, grocery stores, WalMarts, etc (who all employ mass numbers of employees at or just above minimum wage) increase their prices to make the difference. At best the "playing field" is slightly leveled for maybe a year until cost of living increases kick in for many higher-paid workers.
The minimum wage workers will enjoy a bigger number on their paychecks, but then two years later they'll ask "Why is milk $5/gallon when it was $4 two years ago?" Minimum wage workers will still be in poverty just in time for Komrade Klinton to suggest another increase when she runs. Increasing minimum wage has no real effect, it washes out.
If you want to beat poverty, improve schools and keep jobs in America instead of shipping them to India. Those will have real effects as generally the more educated you are, the better paid you are and there will then be jobs here for people to work at.

So Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes finally get a concert in Baton Rouge and its at Fred's... I'm going to have to break my anti-Tigerland policy. its Thursday July 22. Anyone want to go?
Quickie: You keep hearing something. But what? Listen harder. It's a voice in your own head.
Well, good to see I'm not insane. The voices in my head are really there!
Overview: If you're flying solo-style, it's probably because deep down you want to be alone. The right person will find their way into your life when you're ready. If you're coupled up, give your copilot the day off.
Gaelic Prayer May the roads rise to meet you.
May the wind be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
The rain fall soft upon your fields
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Ronald Reagan is on his death bed. Take a loook at how some DemoRats are discussing it....
Makes me sick. That is all. I'm at work and watching LSU vs. USM baseball. Don't want to comment right now.

10:29 PM
Thanks for all the well wishes everyone, the back seems to be healing up. Still a little stiffness/soreness here and there but nothing like a week ago. Taking most of this weekend off and staying in bed almost all day Sunday seem to have been good decisions (though I did not write or look at one page of work stuff for three days... hope they don't kill me tomorrow LOL). Tomorrow night is Tigerland Kiwanis' Charter Night Celebration so we'll officially be a Kiwanis Club in 24 hours.
I went to a doctor 3 times last week. Thats after not seeing a single doctor for 3 or 4 years. Hopefully I don't need to see one at anytime this week. (Friends in med school excepted, of course)
Wholistic place was a joke. Thought I was getting a massage, but got put on machines that tried to massage me instead. One hurt and I almost killed the doctor's 60 year old wife jumping off the bed. Also, they put on a "relaxation" tape that sounded like Buddist monks "OM"ing. It may have had subliminal advertising, but I can't prove it. All I know is that George Bush is Satan and I am voting for John Kerry now.
The lady thinks the medicine I was on poisoned my liver and that I need to get her recipe for a liver flush smoothie to have for breakfast once every two weeks. Yeah. I should also come back and have her husband (the doctor) look at the red lines in my eyes as lines in certain areas show where polutants are located in your body.
Anyway, because of the pain at the wholistic place, I finally went to the after hours clinic again fearing the words "ruptured" and "pinched". They shot X-rays, saw that I could touch my toes and concluded that I was having muscle spasms. No liver poisoning and no studying of my eye to see whats wrong with my back. I'm now on a muscle relaxer, an anti-flamitory med and heat. They are thus far (3 hours in) working.
I was able to sleep for about 5 hours in the bed last night and when I woke up, it only took 2 or 3 minutes for me to be able to stand up instead of 5-10, so thats an improvement.
I've scheduled an appointment this afternoon to hopefully have my back realligned. The wholistic doctor I talked to said it sounded like my pelvis was a little crooked and that treatment with rollers should be able to correct things. Since the pain started on Monday, the injury is recent enough for this to probably work.
OK, prepare for a trip folks, this is going to be interesting.
Saturday Morning and Afternoon
Its a nice Saturday morning, helping Eddie move into the new apartment. We move a couch. I feel something pierce my thumb by the nail. After dropping the couch, I look at the thumb. A little blood, nothing else so we finish moving. A few minutes later I feel the other side of my thumb and there's a bump. A tip. A splinter is COMPLETELY IN MY FINGER with neither side sticking out of the skin. Jason drives me to Our Lady of the Lake Emergency where there's a 4-5 hour wait, they send us to the After Hours Clinic. They get to me fast. the doctor cuts a hole in myfinger and digs for at least 25 minutes. He got the tip of the splinter about 10 times but could only get a millimeter or so off so he has to dig deep and grab near the base. He wraps it and gives me perscriptions for Augmentin XR (taken twice a day to fight inspections) and Vicodin (as needed for pain). I get ominous warnings that Augmentin and Vicodin can cause extreme diarreah in 1 OUT OF 7 patients and that I should go to the emergency room if the finger pusses up badly. If somehow that doesn't happen, go to the afterhours clinic on Monday night for a quick checkup.
Saturday Night
Long, stressful day with some thumb pain leads to Vicodin #1.
Sunday
Nothing of consequence. Thumb is doing fine, just keeping it well-wrapped and clean (as I continue to through tonight).
Monday
I go to work. everything is fine except for back pain developing in late afternoon. After work, doctor looks at my finger, is amazed at my level of healing and says to keep doing whatever I'm doing (cleaning with hydrogen peroxide and wrapping in sterile gauze). I go home and take a Vicodin for whatever minor pain in my thumb and the building pain in my back...
Tuesday
wake up with back pain but tough it out (as I usually do with any ailment, for better or worse). I walk around the office pretty decrepitly, but no one notices (I suck up as much pain as I can to walk normally through the halls. I use my massage cover for my chair for the first time in months and even change out chairs to one without wheels (with better lower back support). A little after work, pain is subsiding. I take my nightly Augmentin and play NCAA football, pain comes back. I try to go to bed. Everytime I lay down, if I move I get extreme pain in my lower back. I keep falling asleep, curling up and waking up in huge pain. I try to get out of bed and can't straighten my back. I end up crawling on the floor some to loosen things up. Once the back loosens (after 5-10 minutes) I can stand fine with little pain. Through all this I consider trying to get to the cell to call Eddie (who has the spare key to my apartment) because I can't get downstairs and/or, for the first time ever in my life, calling 911. Once I get standing and find out I can traverse the stairs, I decide to do neither. After sitting downstairs, potential causes run through my head. My car seat's been messed up for a year and a half, with the pressure at about the point I'm having problems. Then something else hits me. I hadn't shit in 2 days.
I get upstairs to the computer (once I'm out of bed and walking, things are pretty normal, just a little stiff, like a mild sprained ankle) and do some research. Turns out these meds, in addition to causing diareah in some patients, can also cause constipation. Think about that for a second. Anywa, I decide I have two things I can do, drive to get Exlax or drive to the emergency room. I go for the Exlax, I hate hospitals. I call Walgreens and find out it is safe to take the Exlax and Aleve with the meds I'm on. Can;t take other medicing within two hours of Exlax, so its about 5 AM when I finally take the Aleve and fall asleep in my recliner. I wake up around 9 with minimal pain.
Wednesday
I do not take my Augmentin. Back doesn't give big problems till 2 or 3 in the afternoon, a good 10 hours after taking Aleve. And the Exlax helps take some "pressure" off the back too.
After walking around for a few minutes and figuring I'm in good enough shape to try to go to work, I get the car to a repair shop. It will be 2-3 days just to get parts in, but I leave it anyway, I am not driving that thing and messing up my back any more than I alreay have. People at work are supportive, boss offers to take me to his health club for the whirlpool (which I will probably do tomorrow) and secretary (who has had a broken back and has the lingering effects) is going to bring me a business card for the theraputic masseuses she uses. Hopefully I will see them tomorrow afternoon or Friday. I also have gotten a rental car for at least the next week. It has the same seat as my car (except not damaged) and the support it gives is so much better.
Tonight I swam a little and took a soak in Epsom salt. Neither seem to have done much but stretch me out a little (which I am feeling). I will be sleeping in the recliner again tonight b/c I've already tried to lay down for a few minutes and get up with not much more luck than last night (I'm not going to chance laying down all night and not being able to get up or turning a wierd way waking me up in pain again).
So thats where I am right now. If I'm tempermental or short, please be understanding. Also so people don't worry, the worse pain was at about 1-2 AM. Things have gotten better and throughout today the lower back's been making me know its there, but not excruciatingly. I think its just a bad pulled muscle or two. Hopefully it will be straightened out (literally?) soon. I think I might be having to pull out of Magnum Night/Day for obvious reasons (lots of walking and drinking and medicine don't like each other).
11:27 PM
So I was told today that by not putting up a facade to mask how miserable I am a lot of the time, I'm being insensitive to everyone else's problems. Apparantly people would just rather me not be around than deal/help with whatever's bothering me. Discuss.
Daily work (by Astrology.com)
It's time to reexamine why your job stresses you out. Maybe your present career track needs to come under review as well. Working for a living is necessary at this point in your life. It's up to you if you want it to be more fun.

I found this today, its a summary of NBC's biographical movie on Jesse Ventura. It was a greatly researched historical film featuring a reinactment of Jesse's 1975 wrestling debut vs. World Heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg and announcing career alongside Gorilla Monsoon in WCW.
4:11 PM
If you're coming to the concert on Saturday, please call, e-mail or leave a comment before 5 PM Friday so I can buy tickets at the rehersal Friday night. They might not be available at the door.
So I've seen this bad boy all around town and finally spotted one on a car at my complex where I saw the URL of where to get it. So if you want some Purple and Gold Bush, go visit GeauxBush.com!
In other news, most of my office will be on a golf trip next weekend, so that will mean less work for me (if they can't review what I do, I can't edit it, hopefully) and free time. Let me know if anything is going on.
In closing, Eli Manning is a whiny little bitch that won't make it through the season in New York City before he runs home crying to mommy. Book it. Its just a shame he won't have to face LSU North (aka New England) this year.

10:50 AM
So, Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes are playing Jazz Fest on Friday and I'm thinking about going (work may come into play...) This is my friend's band that was in Baton Rouge a few weeks ago. You need to see them do Sweet Child Of Mine on the electric fiddle! Right after them on the same stage is the Benji Davis Project (a pretty good band that played Groovin on the Grounds this year). The headliners on Friday aren't anyone I'm personally dying to see (Deacon John and Harry Connick, Jr.), but if anyone would like to go to Jazz Fest Friday, let me know and we'll try to work something out.

This was in GNOYO's weekly newsletter this week if you're thinking about coming to the concert:
Please make sure you get your May 8th concert tickets from the office as soon as possible. The concert begins that Saturday at 3:00 PM with the combined Sinfonias and Philharmonias followed by the Symphony. The concerto winners will be performing with the Philharmonia and Symphony. Since this is our 10th season celebration concert we have invited our alumni to perform with us which will expand the Symphony by over 25 musicians. The location is Loyola’s Roussel Hall which only holds 592 people. Please make sure you’re in that number and get your tickets well in advance. With the extra players and all orchestras performing we expect to sell out. The ticket prices are: General Admission : $15; Students: $7; and Age 5 and Under: Free. Again, call the office for those tickets: 504/392-4300. Tickets are also available at this week’s rehearsal.
If you'd rather get them at their rehersal for some reason, they rehearse 1-5:45 on Saturdays at NOCCA Riverfront.
In other news, I downloaded AdAware 6.0 and Bazooka Spyware Scanner last night. It took me an hour or so, but I got rid of about 7 or 8 spyware programs that had been running in the background and now my computer is running faster than it has in months. You might want to consider downloading them if you haven't already.

OK, so you see that countdown to the GNOYO Reunion? That's a concert coming up that I will actually be playing in. It's in Roussel Hall in the Old Music Building at Loyola University. I just got the music this week, some of it is new, some isn't. I can tell you that I'll be playing two movements of Shostakovich's 5th Symphony, both which are pretty hard new songs to learn (especially considering how active I've been on the viola the last few years). The other song I've played before but I'm not sure I can say what it is. I have a feeling it is a "suprise" encore, but trust me, know it you will after the first five notes. I think the other thing I can say is that it will be nice to get to play this piece with hopefully double the brass this time.
Anyway, tickets are $15, but if you have a student ID (and no one's saying it has to be an active one...) its $7. It is at 3 PM on Saturday May 8, so if people want to do something that night, we can easily do so. The concert will have 5 orchestras playing - 3 just strings and 2 full orchestas -and I would imagine, including intermissions, it should be over by 6:30. The only kink may be me getting my mom back home before I can go out anywhere, but we might be able to find her a ride back to Kenner.
Anyway, let me know if you plan on coming. This will probably be the last time I play viola in an organized setting until the next orchestra reunion in 5 years (if there even is one).
Well I owe the Federal Government about $5,000 for last year and a quarter of that for the first quarter of this year. With today's paycheck I think I have the cash to pay 2003 taxes with less than $100 to spare. Then all of my mid April paycheck is going to the 1st quarter 2004 payment. I'll be living off my credit card for about the next month (unless a nice check comes in time for April 15th), but I think I'll be able to survive the great tax raping of 2004. Once I make it through this, 20% of every paycheck is going into the savings account! (At least I'll claim that!)
For anyone in Baton Rouge reading, I'm going out to Groovin on the Grounds on Friday afternoon (opener up to Vertical Horizon). Then it's off to Port Allen to see my (high school) friend Harry's band Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, who won Offbeat Magazine's (a New Orleans entertainment magazine) best new band in 2002. Harry was concertmaster in our highschool's orchestra and plays violin, harmonica and sax for the band. They play funk music, so if anyone wants to go (and yes I'd like to have some accompianment to the Baton Rouge Wank) please call my cell anytime Friday. The show starts at 10. Oh, there MIGHT be passes waiting at the door for me and three others (one of which is tentatively spoken for).
Bush needs to bust this out if he campaigns in Louisiana this fall.

Here's a good editorial from Purple & Gold Magazine about Emmert and Blanco, etc. I do stand corrected that LSU Baton Rouge was cut $8 million this year (though a $60 million increase had been requested).
The University of Washington has offered presidency to Mark Emmert. The reason he wants to take them up on it? "[A member of the LSU BOS] said Emmert has been frustrated about state funding in Louisiana and may be planning to leave because he was unable to marshal the forces to make the school a national academic powerhouse."
Thank everyone you know that voted for Kat Blanco (who has already cut increases in funding to LSU that had been promised).

People have been asking about some stuff Paul had to say on his blog, so I'll respond here.
My boy Sean makes $50,000 a year. That's a lot of dough for many a ho. Thats a rounded number, but pretty close.
My boy Sean's nickname is Big Poppa. He likes to spend G's. I love spending Gs. Especially on taxes like I will be in the next few weeks. Then I won't be spending any Gs for a long time.
My boy Sean has a college degree from LSU. I forgive him and so should you. Feel free to read a few posts back on Paul's blog to see how much an hour a UNO degree gets you!
My boy Sean went to the Sugar Bowl. You should want to touch him. These are unrelated but both are true.
My boy Sean wears glasses and looks damn sexy in them. Also true.
My boy Sean would like to meet you or your sister, cousin, niece, mom, grandmother, aunt, school secretary, or anyone female. Anyone could be THE ONE. Its getting to look that way.
In closing, did you know that my boy Sean is just a great guy looking for a great gal. Have you met my boy Sean? If you haven't, you should. I always learned in my Communications and Marketing classes that its best to have someone else sell you than sell yourself, so THANKS PAUL!

Oh joy. Kathleen Blanco isin Iraq. I'm glad she has time to spend over there visiting. Maybe she'll have enough free time to think about who she's going to get to fill those holes in her staff she still has. Or better yet, find some Iraqi company to move to Monroe to replace State Farm's 1200 jobs and $50 million payroll that's leaving the state.

WOO HOO National Signing Day! Check out the #1 Recruiting Class in the Nation right here!
I worked a 12 hour day yesterday. I'm still doing the LSU apartment survey stuff and had to rebuild the database queries I use to get all the averages and statistics. Hopefully, with the way I set them up last night, I will NEVER have to rebuild this system again!
The ceiling fan in my bedroom is currently on my floor and my bed. Last night I came home and noticed it very loose at the ceiling. When I went to bed, it looked worse so I went up to look at it and saw that a screw had fallen out. In the process of trying to find it, the whole fan came loose (I think a sneeze or snore at night would have done it too) and it was there dangling with the covers for the connection wires on my bed. I had a choice. Electrocution to disconnect the fan without it falling or just let it fall down, possibly ripping wires out of the ceiling and have glass all over the place. I chose electrocution. I called the complex's emergency line (I consider exposed wiring above my bed an emergency) and they never showed up. This morning they claimed I never answered my phone, but I stayed up almost an hour after this happened waiting for them to call or come over AND there was no missed calls on my cell phone (which is the number I left thanks to Bell South's sucking). At least I learned that my sofa is comfortable enough to sleep on and the apartment didn't burn down.
In other news, one of the secretaries brought a cream cheese and praline filled King Cake and I CAN'T HAVE ANY. I've been fine at avoiding fried foods, breads, fruits and pastas (all no nos for South Beach Phase I), but for a New Orleanian to deny himself King Cake during Carnival is just WRONG!
As to why I have a post at 9:50 AM on a work day, I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for someone to fax me info I should have had two days ago. Until its here, I have nothing to do.

Bell South managed to accidentally disconnect my home phone for the 4th time since moving inot my new apartment. Seems everytime they activate a new resident's line, they disconnect mine. No more. Only way to call me now is on my cell phone.

11:58 PM
WIth the official celebration of LSU football over and basketball not being much to celebrate right now (losing to an Ole Miss team that shot less than 40% from the floor???), I figure its time for Mardi Gras music.
I also guess an update of sorts is due.
Work is work. Its still going.
Went to the Re-Elect Mayor Bobby Simpson Campaign Kickoff errrrrr Parade of Champions yesterday for LSU and Southern. It was a great thing for Baton Rouge. LSU and Southern fans partied in the streets together and then were getting down in the rain at the State Capitol to Southern's band playing Do What You Wanna (a Mardi Gras staple) and LSU's Hey Baby before both bands played the national anthem together. After the ceremony, as we were walking back the last song we heard was Southern's band playing We Are the Champions, a song the Golden Band should get in their repertoire.
Back in Tiger Stadium that afternoon, it was still rainy but no one cared. They had a stage set up in the south endzone for the festivities. The field had a fresh coat of paint including an awesome national championship logo below the Eye of the Tiger. Mitch Landrieu "took one for the team" by appearing in Kathleen Blanco's place (she was at a wedding out of state) and taking the boos for her (take a guess who the vast majority of LSU fans were voting for), second to the only other boos of the day, which were for the AP representative there to present Nick Saban with the AP Coach of the year honors. Her comments, which no one could hear due to the booing were "at least we made the right choice for Coach of the Year". From what I saw, she was smiling through the jeers and was expecting it. They replayed the "Dream On" music video from before the Sugar Bowl and then a brand new "Eye of the Tiger" video of Sugar Bowl highlights before the focus of the day as the 2003 National Champions flag was hoisted as a nice wind came through for its unfurling.
Great (paraphrased) lines from the day:
Chancellor Emmert at the Capitol: "I know one thing, they're not having a party like this in Southern California today" to which all the Southern players got up and gave LSU a standing ovation.
Mayor Bobby Simpson: "You know Michigan and Tennessee might boast having over 100,000 in their stadiums, but no city but Baton Rouge, LA can claim to have more than 125,000 fans sitting in stadiums on a given Saturday to watch college football."
In other developments, I decided to buy the South Beach Diet book on Friday and read it today. I plan on starting tomorrow, so wish me luck. The hardest part will probably be getting in the habit of making breakfast in the morning, but hopefully the egg and ham/turkey bacon breakfasts (which are encouraged) will help with that. For those of you that haven't heard of it, I think the best way to describe it is as a heart-friendly alternative to Atkins. Like Atkins, it gets you off of breads, pastas and fruits (at least to start), but does not encourage you to eat all the carbs you want. It was developed by a cardiologist, so I will consider it a little less likely to give me a heart attack than the eat all the red meat you want Atkins diet.
In related news, I'm considering getting an X-Flex Gym to flesh out this whole healthy thing. If anyone reading knows more about these home gyms, feedback would be appreciated.
Everyone is happy that Benoit won the Royal Rumble. All it means is that he gets to job to HHH at WrestleMania.
Just read that Endymion is doing an LSU Superfloat this year and that's not even the big news.
The big news is that it looks like the Golden Band from Tigerland is marching in Rex! After last year I didn't think I'd go Uptown for Mardi Gras Day again, but if this is true, I just changed my mind!
1:09 PM
Found this on the Tiger's Lair. Its hilarious.
FROM THE SPORTSWIRE, AP SPORTSWRITERS HAVE DECIDED THAT THEY CONTINUE TO BE SMARTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE AND HAVE ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT THEY HAVE VOTED THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES AS THE AP NFL CHAMPION FOR THIS YEAR.
AP SPORTSWRITER, JOHN "WATERBOY" SMITH, SAID, "I DON'T CARE WHAT THE RULES SAY. THE SUPERBOWL IS IRRELEVENT. WE ALL KNOW THAT THE EAGLES ARE THE BEST TEAM. WE AREN'T GONNA LET SOME BRAINLESS PLAYOFF SYSTEM TAKE THE PLACE OF HUMAN BEINGS."
THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA IS NOW EUPHORIC.

Wow, I actually care about the Superbowl this year.
Panthers vs. Patriots and I actualy want both teams to win.
On one hand, if the Panthers win, Jake Delholme completes his embarassment of the Saints. On the other, if the Patriots win, Rohan Davey, Jarvis Green and Kevin Faulk all get Superbowl rings.
Its too hard to choose which will be more fun. I almost want the Pats in a blowout so that Rohan Davey actually gets a snap or two in the Superbowl (hey, I can dream).
This should be a really good Superbowl. Any word on good commercials yet?

Well, just like Star Trek had to make Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country as an apology to moviegoers for Star Trek V, he comes Rocky VI! Check out the trailer here, this movie might be the best of them all!
USC gets the New York Times Computer and AP, LSU gets the Coaches and 7 other computers. LSU's computer average is 1 after the BCS throws out the lowest computer ranking (2nd in NYT) and USC's is 1.83.
That's all I have to say about the Sugar Bowl right now. I'm too tired to write it all. However, I know that everyone reading has one question on their mind right now.
Question: Now that LSU has won a national championship is Sean going to be as insufferable as we think he'll be?
I'm going to go with my friend Pete, who I caught up with at my 5 year reunion over the break. He got his undergrad at Amherst and is at Yale Medical now, so he represents the smartest person I know. His prediction:
LSU 14 Oklahoma 10.
There you go.
I will say this. I have never EVER seen Nick Saban smile as much as he has this week. He actually busted out a James Brown boogie the other night that they showed on Inside LSU Football tonight. If Nick Saban is this comfortable and loose, he's GOT to know something about how this game is going to play out.
PS: whether LSU wins or loses, USC, Pete Carroll, ABC, ESPN and the entire national sports media can go to hell. The BCS may be flawed, but it is the system in place. Al Gore couldn't skip around the Electoral College to win the Presidency in 2000 and USC can't skip around the BCS system to win the National Championships. The rules were agreed upon by all to start with and if it doesn't work your way, tough shit! Everyone knows that if LSU had been shut out and beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl, the national media wouldn't be in an uproar. Louisiana isn't as big as a media market as the other LA. USC, Enjoy the Rose Bowl trophy and certificate the AP will send you, either LSU or OU will have a big Crystal football that says National Champions on it.
